You and I may be closer to agreeing than you think. I have never said bioware are sellouts. I might have thought it but never said it. : ) There are those that will hate on anything even slightly different, and those that will praise bioware no matter what they do. Neither is very good. Like I said I feel I have few places to go to get a good single player game of any type. I am not saying TOR will suck but it isn't anything I want. I would rather have had a Kotor 3 sp game. This rumored mp game wont neccesarily suck but it would be nothing I want. As far as ME3 and DA2 well I will just wait and see . I need more info about those to see if I would want them even though they are SP.spacehamsterZH wrote...

I do not like multi player games.
Me neither. If this hypothetical shooter spinoff doesn't have a strong single player element, I'm not buying it. Yet somehow I don't see a single logical reason to complain here. Funny how that goes. But as a single player rpg fan I have few places to turn for anything of quality. Bioware being the best. I would prefer they would concentrate on that.
This new game is not diverting any resources away from the Dragon Age and core Mass Effect. ME3 is on track, DA2 is on track.
Would I rather see an announcement of a proper ME2 expansion pack than what this appears to be? Yeah, sure. But that's about the only complaint I have, and since we know that both more ME2 DLC and ME3 are coming, I don't see a reason to go bonkers here.
Of course it helps that I've only just finally gotten around to DA:O, so I'll be getting my RPG fix plenty fine for a while still. If you're completely starved for new RPG stuff and are disappointed that this doesn't seem to be it, okay, I can understand that. But the ranting and raving about Bioware "selling out" and how this will "destroy Mass Effect" and inevitably lead to ME3 being turned into a pure shooter is pants-on-head retarded.

As a fan of both FPS games and RPG games (yes, we exist), I'm quite excited about this.
IF this rumor turns out to be accurate, that is.
+1
I fall into this category as well.

But they could do something more unique. They could include your usual deathmatch, capture the flag, etc., but what I think would really make it successful and something to be talked about over so many other multiplayer games is if they created a few multiplayer campaigns you and a few teammates fight through. Think a bit like Alien Swarm here, only ME style. Do the entire campaign with friends or jump in at individual levels, but then provide a few different campaigns to fight through. On top of that, dont make it a generic corridor shooter, but a somewhat wide-open, non-linear game so different classes can bring more to the table and make it much more replayable. For instance, providing doors only an engineer can get through or having a perimeter wall an infiltrator might provide sniper support from, or let a soldier distract the guards with lots of explosions and gunfire so others might press through to an otherwise heavily guarded gate. And then what if we might add race selection on top of that even?

I wonder if they would just incorporate this multiplayer component (that is being developed by a studio outside of BW Edmonton) into ME3, like what was done with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
That might be a possibility. The only issue I would see here is that they would be selling 2 games for the price of 1, if they give any justice to both gameplay facets.
It makes much more sense to have a multiplayer-centric ME and ME3 as separate games. If someone is an RPG fan and a multiplayer shooter fan, they'd be selling 2 games instead of 1.
And really, Bioware has a long history of shying away from any multiplayer in their RPGs even since they moved away from Baldur's Gate, and I doubt this is going to change. Multiplayer just takes too much effort.
Of course, that's not counting TOR, but TOR has an entire studio devoted to it.

If its anything like CoD there is no way I am buying it... if its more like GoW or Halo I would buy it (I am talking about a balanced MP system which CoD does not have).CommanderGshep wrote...
that would be awesome and even if you don;t want the mass effect franchise for whatever reason to go into multiplayer you have to admit if it is anything like black ops or halo reach or along those lines it would be amazing

FPS multi player
Focus is not on story or character
Probably being forced to play a white guy
Of course this is a rumor, but this is not a good sign.

So ?
It's a chance to focus on the story and the characters in ME3.

I won't buy this piece of crap if it's real. They should finish off the trilogy before they make any sorts of major spin-offs.
ME FPS is a simple rent, If I want a FPS or multiplayer game, there is better devs out there that can do it better then Bioware. They should stay with rpgs.
This will be the first Bioware game i will not buy, it will get a rent.

Not to mention we don't even know if this rumored game is coming out before or after Mass Effect 3 anyway.
