wow, your still not over a 4 month thread, plus its a video game character that we both have different opinions of and in none of those threads did i say i hate Leliana. she has interesting character flaws, and would you rather me post this in the Lel thread? plus you are insulting my parents who are rl life people because of a vg character.

Maybe if instead you could bang Marjolaine as a solution. At which point Leliana gets disgusted you slept her ex and leaves the party.

Damn this has made me realize. Why don't we have Marjolaine fan thread?

i started one a month ago died after two pages.   i like marjolaine's character and always thought a samara/ morinth option would be nice.

Marjolaine thread died because no one likes her, maybe. It's the accent. (Bioware should stick with French, or at least, French Canadian actors for their Orlesian characters, as they have with Leliana and Riordan).

Yes, there was a thread a while back where David Gaider was talking about accents. Leliana's VA lives in London.

Being French, do the fake accents (Marjolaine, Erlina, Isolde) not bother you at all? As an Englishwoman, some of the "English" accents make me cringe (well, basically every one done by Yury Lowenthal, for starters).

Well she's only been in Fereldan for about two years. I was thinking it was because her mother would've taught her both French and English at the same time.

i guess it is possible, i learned english early on but its hard learning 2 different languages at once and i think everyone speaks english in thedas.

I've wished for the possibility, though I certainly would hope it better than that pathetic excuse for a secret companion that was Morinth, who only had four lines of unique dialogue, and pursuing them killed you.



I've mentioned it before, but there are some people (and some wardens) who simply don't trust Leliana. Her deliberately evasions of her 'past' profession that suggest she could be hiding so much more, her such, well, rather unbelievable basis for wanting to come with you (the Maker told me to), her open admissions/not-quite-boasts that she was very good at her job, and could wrap anyone's heart around her fingers even when she romances you. Add onto it the Orlesian Bard factor...



Leliana would be far from the first seductress spy who succeeds in no small part because she admits from the start that's she very good at what she does. Some people get enticed by that. Others believe 'well, she admits it, so she obviously would never do it to me,' or 'I'm better than all those other people she's tricked, it's real for us.'



You laugh, but then a sucker is born every minute.



So yes. I do think Marjolaine could have an opening to exploit on the matter of trust. 'I am a professional deceiver, but at least I don't hide the fact and try and trick you with it,' she might say, and then refer to various things Leliana has never told you. 'Help me, and I will return the favor with my superior Bard skills. Quid pro quo. This Blight is no friend of mine either, and is as much in my interest to end as anyone else's.'



Then you could side with Leliana, who is infinitely grateful for your trust, or with Marjolene on the basis better the devil you can see as one than the devil who hides... and then, for the rest of the game, Marjolene applies her bard skills and an even more skilled tongue to get her way into the good graces of all the party, and even spins a sympathetic tale that would make so many players feel all conflicted.

Hell no. I've never killed Marjolaine, but I won't ever consider her as a party companion. The woman is a paranoid possessive creature, who may never have any redeeming qualities. She would bring nothing of any use to the party, and would probably back stab you in front of the Archdemon. So, no, no and no.
