Hell no. I've never killed Marjolaine, but I won't ever consider her as a party companion. The woman is a paranoid possessive creature, who may never have any redeeming qualities. She would bring nothing of any use to the party, and would probably back stab you in front of the Archdemon. So, no, no and no.

You know, I was content to hold my peace until that last bit.

Really? That's the sort of person you're going to argue she is?

Leliana certainly is a sympathetic character, and betraying her was to make Marjolaine be all evil and all, but when did being a bad person make one stupid evil?

Why would Marjolaine want to join your group?

Quid pro quo. Universal concern of the Blight. Because it could be fun.

[snooty orlesian]Wandering around smelly Ferelden fighting disgusting monster things, fun?  Really, the country is so backward and barbaric being swallowed by the blight could be considered gentrification.[/snooty orlesian]

Uh, no. She's an untrustworthy paranoid loony. Plus her voice causes the ear drums of innocent puppies to explode.

No thank you. At the stage of the game when I get Leliana's quest she's a friend to my PC. I'd consider it a betrayal to switch her for Marjolaine.

(On a side note - that voice would drive me to murder in quick order. Nothing she brought to the group could compensate for that, even if I did want to recruit her)

i think all 3 of those characters were done by the same va

I don't think so, not sure who voiced Isolde but I'm pretty sure Marjolaine's VA didn't do it, I can recognize her voice straight away because she also voiced Aerie in BG2^^, pretty sure she voiced Erlina though. (Nice voice, satanically evil accent for those characters though)

Back to the question though, an option to betray Leliana would've been quite interesting, even if Marjolaine didn't join you but tried to buy you off. I'd never betray Leliana, I'd probably end up deleting the character if I tried, but the scene where you make the choice could be really cool, perhaps after you defeat her she makes the offer, like the tevinter slaver in the alienage, would be much more climactic than what happens at the moment.

Never ever. Marjolaine will betray you immediately as soon as you turn your back on her.

What makes her loony? That she didn't like Leliana?

"I made you Leliana, I can destroy you just as easily" doesn't seem like something you'd say without being a few bricks short of a wall. It's far too Bond-villan-y.

Nope. Marjolaine is irritating. leliana is weird, but can be endearingly weird and quirky. I've seen nothing of Marjolaine that would be endearing or interesting, and her voice gets on my nerves.

Marjolaine is utterly convinced that Leliana spent 2 years in the Chantry dreaming up some plot to get even with her. No matter what you say or do, she holds this conviction. I'm sure if you could show her video proof of what Leli did every day for those years, she would still believe that Leli was plotting to endanger her.

Marj has no honour, she doesn't belong in Ferelden. She is better suited back in Orlais, to the scheming and backstabbing.

Majorlane sent assassins to kill you remeber and her dialouge does not indicate a completely rational state of mind.

So I kill her.

Personally I might have spared Howe strictly because of who his VA was. Then I'd come to my senses, and kill him for being a traitorous bastard.

Marjolaine dies everytime with me. I can role play it any way I want, but the real reason is she's annoying.

She arrogantly states that there's no way Leliana and I could kill here ("I created you, I can destroy you" "I have other guards waiting my orders"). This just gets my ire even more because all I do is put a forcefield around Marjie, whack out her guards and then she just stands there singing while I kill her with ZERO strategy or effort.

In other words, she talks tough but she is a creampuff.

At least Howe puts up a fight. He doesn't try to win the fight singing lullabies.

Imagine Howe and Marjie scheming to conquer Fereldan if Loghain had won - oi.

She's remarkably easy to kill as well if you just have your party go back into the entry way since it creates a choke point. and the mages can't see you there.

Marjolaine didn't betray Leliana the moment Leliana trusted her. They spent years together. Marjolaine turned on Leliana when Leliana found incriminating evidence, and for justifiable (if paranoid) reasons.

Actually, it's a lot like parents tell their children. And a lot of teachers tell upity students.
