I got my ME1 from steam, the game was fine before i reformat my computer but now i can only play the game for around 15 minutes then it freezes and showing some blue texture error after that my monitor starts to flicker. I manage to finish a profile before i reformat but now i couldn't even go pass Eden Prime. ME2 works fine on my computer.

Computer specs:
Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13Ghz
Sapphire 4670 512mb
3Gb ram
Window XP SP3

is there any solution for my problem?

Maybe your ME1 files have become corrupted. Let Steam verify them for you. Right-click on title, choose "Properties", then click the tab "Local files", and finally the button "Verify Integrity of game cache...". Wait for the result and then try the game again. Otherwise, uninstall it, delete any remaining ME1 file from the Steam folder and reinstall the lot. But if the game was fine before you reformated the computer you may have some (video/audio) drivers yet to update to the same standard as before.

I have the exact problem.
I purchased "Mass Effect" on Steam a couple of days ago. Started playing
the game and everything was going fine until 45min/60min later when all
of a sudden I got a flickering black screen or just a black screen with the game sound still running in
the background. Couldn't do anything but to press ctrl-alt-del to exit
the game. This happens every time I try to play the game, everything is
perfectly fine until about an hour later. Sometimes I can exit the game
with ctrl-alt-del, sometimes I can't and have to reebot. I also noticed
that my CPU goes to 100% when that problem occurs.

What is the problem and what is the solution?

My system configuration meets required configuration for the game, all my drivers are up to date. I don't know what to do.

Please, help. :(

I wonder if your graphics card gets overheated and struggles because of it or if your power supply unit is too weak to supply all the necessary juice for the game at length, in which case things ought to break down as well. Games differ in how much they require of the graphics card or power supply unit, you know. Maybe you should ask someone who can check these things for you. In Cheesenium's case, however, where the game worked fine before the computer was reformatted, some other cause appears to be the problem.
