Significance of Hawke's Arm Tattoos?

One might speculate the tattoos have something to do with Blood Magic.
But, I've noticed in some of the leaked gameplay vids ( and even some screenshots, I believe ) that even warrior Lady Hawe has tattoos on her left arm.........
I just thought it was curious, and I was wondering if Hawke's arm tattoos have any significance............

Still, we really shouldn't take anything made by Blur as canon or even speculation material.
As for the ingame tattoos, they make me hope for body tattoos. Mmmmm, body tattoos.

Well, I think Bioware did confirm that trailerHawke is a Blood Mage.

The weird thing is, the blood marks appear on warrior Hawkes, too. Or, at least, the Nutella smear.

It's because Hawke has nasal and sinus allergies and keeps rubbing his/her nose. They just don't wipe off the blood on their hands first.

I think it's an activated power. Like threaten.

that's another thing, too.
When the Destiny Trailer came out, and I'm not sure if the devs were saying this, but weren't people associating the Blood/Nutella smear with Blood Magic? Like, Hawke smears his face with blood to call forth/boost his blood magic?
But then, as you said, the blood smear appears on warrior and rogue Hawke, too........
hmmm.............

When this was brought up in the Gaider Interviews, he said he thought it was a blood mage thing, but it was up to the design team.

I would cry if that blood smear was Blood Mage only (good thing its not). I love it!
Maybe it's a customization choice, like tattoos.
In that case, here's for William Wallace face-paint.

Maybe nothing more than "don't go out and get drunk with Carver and Bethany."
He asked for a T-Rex riding a singing walnut while eating a dolphin, but ended up with a crappy tribal. Never drinking again. Psh.

He just seems to be wearing it all the time because it's Varric telling the story.

I suppose it makes sense for my blood mage Hawke to have it, then.
