I've noticed throughout the game in different situations you are presented with a choice that could affect an underlying "alignment" for your PC so to speak. These situations seem to have no impact on party members. Such as a few choices in the city elf origin where you can choose to donate to a beggar. Or multiple times you can refuse to be rewarded for a particular quest.
I'm wondering if this comes into play at all during the game as far as relationships perhaps or maybe affect the outcome of the game.
Or are these seemingly "non-consequential" acts there solely for "rp" purposes.
For example: I've found it quite easy to enter romance dialog for Leliana while playing a "good" pc. Maybe I'm just choosing all the right dialog for her but it leaves me to wonder that maybe there is something keeping track of certain actions in mundane choices you make through the game.
Anyone have any input as far as this is concerned? I've played up to the landsmeet on multiple different origins and I'm seeing these little choices on the way for each one.

Not taking Payment for Quests will give you approval points for Wynne,Al and Lel. Demanding Payment will give you points from Sten, Mor etc.. Or so I have notice, not in all cases though. It doesn't seem to be any consistency of maybe it was my party make up at the time.

Right , which makes me think that there might be a personal alignment. I'm not on the pc version, otherwise i'd check the tools to see if there were personal alignment triggers that you can put into custom content. Which would indicate that there is such a system. Some of these alignment affecting choices are presented before you even have a party.
Who knows though. They could also be there for RP purposes and have no other affect on the game other than a few approval points from certain party members. If that's the case and it's just for approval, I don't see the point in passing up a chance to get a paycheck for 1 or 2 points in approval. I can toss Leliana a ball of yarn to make up for the fact that I need the "exp".

I don't think it makes an overall difference. If I recall correctly Bioware said there really is no "alignment" system as per KOTOR or Mass Effect. From what I can tell the party will react to what you do as you do it and that is it. I've made some "evil" choices and some "good" choices (in the gray world that is DAO) and only a key few seem to have immediate repercussions. I've had Lelianna and Morrigan present for most of the game and never had more than a small hit in loyalty for my choices. And still had no trouble getting it on with both of them in the same play through. Things such as taking Andaraste's (sp?) ashes will make Wynne and Lelianna attack you either on the spot on when you return to camp.
