he also voiced ser bryant, so he also did a noble guy

It's true that Vaughn is somewhat hamfisted (he is definitely meant to be hated), but I do take him seriously. The most cringe worthy moment during the entire game for me (taking into account all the other origins) is when he approaches my CEF to say "what a lovely bride" she is. It was all I could do not to punch my monitor.

As for his voice actor, I give him props actually. I honestly didn't find Ser Bryant's voice to be too similar (had I not been told I never would've guessed), so he's clearly a talented voice actor. I think he also voiced the "helpful refugee" in Lothering.

Besides, it's irrelevant for me if he voices male Hawke or not since I only play female characters.

I hope you're joking Axe.

I don't know for sure if Vaughn's VA has been confirmed as the voice for male Hawke, but everything seems to point to that (Gaider's comment about how it was an "unpopular character" and apparently in some leaked footage Hawke sounded like him).

I like playing both genders so if either one is bad 'l be a sad panda.

I can't take him seriously though. THe lovely bride moment made facepalm. It's just the tone is so...urgh. It grates my ears. The only part in that origin where I wasn't laughing/facepalming was when Shianna was on the floor.

Ser Bryant? He's Ser Bryant? Wow. It's not at all similar. (Not sarcasm).

Hm...as long as he doesn't do that hamfisted Vaughn voice I will be pleased.

Bleh.  Guess my first playthrough will be with F.Hawke then.

personally i like evil characters, i mean Cesare Borgia in AC Brotherhood is my all time favorite villian, and Vaughan has the same attitude as him.

1 Branka, because she locked me in that damn room...And the last fight is infuriating.

2 Jarvia, because she sneaks kills my tanks and murders my squishy characters when I'm 'This close'. But atleast I can take a break from that quest line...

3 The small darkspawn team encounter. All those traps and my cunning isn't high enough...sigh.

Otherwise, I like all the other characters.

I like all of the party members, can't bring myself to dislike any of them. The only characters I really dislike are Arl Howe for being a traitor and killing the human noble's family, Vaughan for being an arrogant ******, Branka who is crazy (although I did side with her in my first playthrough) and Cailan for being a foolish king.

Nick Bolton also does the one farmer outside the tavern in Lothering, the cheerleader guy who grins and thanks you for (beating up/killing) the bandits outside of town. I actually like his voice tbh. Better than that other option I have seen bandied about "Jowan's VA". I hope if it IS Jowan's VA, he doesn't adopt Jowan's whine. I'll never play a male Hawke if that's the case. Knowing my luck, Isolde will be voicing FemHawke *headdesk* because I just can't win.

That said, my list goes something like this:

Howe: (don't think i really need an explanation for why this guy is top on my list) however, the fact that he is voiced by Tim Curry is sheer win!!  And it just occurs to me that I will probably be playing ONLY male Hawke's if Tim Curry did the VO...Posted Image

Isolde: Voice, Anti-mage tirade, getting scores of people killed in Redcliffe because she can't turn her child over to the tower where he could, I dunno, maybe LEARN how NOT to do what happened in Redcliffe?

Branka: She should sit down in a tavern and discuss OBSESSION with Capt Ahab. Form a support group or something.

Vaughan: Rapist, creep but as someone upthread points out in it for so short a time my hatred burns out all in a quick flame. If he were in it for longer, he'd be higher on this list.

Loghain: Multitude of reasons I won't go into here for fear of derailing this thread, not the least is the giant cluster F* he turns Ferelden into after the debacle at Ostagar.

Jowan: He used to be higher on the list but after playing mages a LOT, he has actually become less annoying to me. I still don't like his whiny voice though.

Caladrius: Slimeball slaver. I'd hate him more but as with Vaughan he is in such a short role in the story I don't get much time to work up a sweat over him.

As for Companions, I never used to dislike any of them but after hearing Sten's views on mages and women every playthrough, he now stays in the cage in Lothering. And Velanna's voice/attitude pisses me off. ****y, angry Dalish been done far too much for it to be anything but rank. I have only played Awakenings twice now though so she really isn't that high up on my list of disliked characters as I haven't interacted with her much.

Bhelan and Vartag Gavorn, for being murderous idiots who you'll get clobbered for not supporting in the epilogue.

Also the ones with annoying accents, and the obviously evil types you're not supposed to like

Niall; another fine whine that needs a good cork....

Isolde; not the accent, but the selfish, myopic attitude displayed by so many today....

Ser Jory; should have stayed home....

In no particular order:

Arl Howe: As it's been said he's one of the nastier characters in game and his design irritates me his nose is huge and distracting so it adds to his nasty attitude.

Loghain: Yes i'm aware if you recruit him he gives some explaination as to why he did what he did however i find his plan insanely selfish and idiotic. He caused a lot of suffering for a lot of people just to get himself on the throne and try to stop the Orleisians from invading.

Alistair: Whiny and childish. Seems a bit obsessed with Duncan to the point it's borderline creepy. Full of cheesy pickup lines. Self concious and wussy. Everything in the type of guys i hate rolled into one neat little package.

Wynne: Self rightious and preachy as it's been said by somebody else. I also hate how volitile she is. She's the best healer in the game and it feels like you are forced to play a certain way to keep her. If you want to try a different route you have no choice but to make yourself the healer if you are a mage or to make Morrigan a healer.

Ogrhen: Definately the party member i dislike the most. He's just very poorly written. Not very interesting and just seems to exist for juvinile jokes from the writers. Everytime he speaks i just wait for the inevitable fart joke or cheesy sexual line. And out of all the characters to bring back in Awakening it HAD to be him. Because they just wanted to torture us with more fart jokes. And we even got a new Dwarf party member who was actually somewhat interesting so why he was needed i do not know. They must really like him at Bioware for some reason.

Revered Mother: "No i shall not let him go i shall leave him in a cage to slowly suffer and die. Now give us 50 silvers" And she's a religious leader? Seriously?

Ser Whatsherface...Loghains right hand er...Woman who locks you up: She knows Loghain is doing bad things yet follows along blindly and tries to kill you or lock you up. Then later on if you encounter again you can appeal to her concience and she walks away. Why not do that in the first place if she knew he was wrong? Why blindly follow him?. Silly woman.

There's probably more if i had a long think about it. Oh yeah those Elf beggers in the Alienage get a mention for lying and then coming back with more of them to lie again. Cheeky sods.

I think i've written enough i could go on all day.

I actually can't really hate the big baddies like Howe, Caladrius and Vaughan. I put them down as they deserve but whilst they've obviously done heinous things, they don't irritate me the way some of the others do. Some of the dialogue is pretty damned amusing, actually.

Yeah, I think that's part of the reason I didn't include them in my original list. While I consider Vaughn and Howe to be the most horrible persons in the whole game (followed by Marjolaine), they feature so little in the game that I hardly have a chance to get annoyed by them.

Ok, that's a lie, Vaughn's interference (blessing in disguise as it might have been for my CE who didn't want to get married), does annoy me to high heaven. But since he dies pretty quickly, he's kind of forgotten through the rest of the game, so the annoying factor kind of wears down a bit.

Oh, don't get me wrong. As computer game characters I love them for the adversity they introduce. :) There are no characters in the game who annoy me or who I dislike because they're...well...they're computer game characters. :P My PCs may like or dislike them, but I pretty much view them all from an academic/writer's perspective rather than a personal one. I find Howe and Vaughan repugnant as characters, but you're pretty much *supposed* to, I think, so... *shrug* kudos to the writers, they did their jobs. :)

Actually, on a personal level, the only DA character that annoys me is Morrigan because of how she's been used as the Dragon Age poster-girl (esp. in Witch Hunt).

Pretty sure Oghren was brought in to Awakening cause if you played the game via the recommended level ranges... (i.e. Orzammar last, before Landsmeet) then you didn't get a chance to truly get to know Oghren.

Thus, all you'd see were the fart jokes, but there's some deep stuff in there with him.

Like so: "When from the blood of battle the stone is fed, but the heroes prevail and the Blighters lie dead. Heh, as one of the Blighters, I sodding solute you."

For me, it depends on the character I'm role playing. Recently though no matter what character I play, Wynne tends to get on my nerves but I don't hate her. I just want her to stop talking. LOL.:P  Overall I would say:

1. Branka, the anvil has driven her over the cliff.  Into the lava pit she must go.

2. Eamon, the man is a user. I don't think he's evil but I wouldn't
trust him as far as I could throw him.

3. Isolde/ Vaughan, I really dislike both of those characters (probably the most). Both are unrepentant. One is a rapist and the other was willing to keep a village of innocent people hostage. Villagers who are killed I might add for a demon's pleasure.

"Let us show them our hearts, then show them theirs!" - great line for a drunken Berserker.

Not real fond of the new female Dalish Keeper. She is almost as preachy as the Chantry women in Denerim, just with tats.

Leske - after playing my first Warden as a DC, this character led me towards selecting the US. It is difficult for me to release him from prison after that, let alone stick around and listen to him whine about the death of his so-called friend in the other cell.

I just want to say that I love Ser Bryant's voice. I think the VA would be perfect for Hawk. It's manly enough without being off putting.

My most hated character is the Dalish woman who attacks you when you rreturn to the Brazillian forest after you lift the curse. I kept reloading & killing her again, she really pissed me off.

I also hate Oghren in Awakenings, and not an Anora fan.

This.

Those guys are so irredeemable that it's really impossible to like who they are. Still, the fact that they get you (and Vaughn REALLY gets me), is worth praising actually and needless to say, the game needs to have characters like that.

It's like Wynne, who I love to hate. While I strongly dislike who she is, I love to have her in the game because it brings a different perspective to the game. And well, it's fun to hate her! :D

Damn I forgot Cailan. I want to smash him in his stupid face with a cast iron skillet. Glorious!

And yes, I dislike pretty much all of those revererd mothers. I do enjoy taking Sten to visit the one in Lothering after picking the lock on his cage, though.

I find the Revered Mother in Redcliffe to be tolerable actually. I don't know, maybe it's because she didn't diss my mage. The one in Lothering however... ugh. Pissing her off is SOOO much fun.
