Oghren also opens his yap to Kolgrim when searching for the Sacred Ashes; twas rather amusing. But to brave the Deep Roads so early in the game to get him for some quests is questionable.

Its actually more the wth did I step in expression on Avernus's face when it happens.  As if the blood mage who abandoned and tortured his companions and tore the veil asunder in this place was any better?  And this guy has this prissy expression on his face.Posted Image

Varel is the silver fox of Amaranthine.

He is the only real man in Awakening.

Uh, that would be Nathaniel Howe!  Seriously, I don't see the Varel appeal.  He's a nice guy but I must be missing something.

How could I forget Oghren. Ah Oghren, tactless, classless and apparently a deadbeat dad.

...What can I actually like about him is the question.

Varel: Why is some idiot non-Warden peon administering the Joining? He is unworthy to fill in for The Beard.

It's him or you and you're too important to be handing every Tom, Dick, and Harry who walks into the Keep a cup of darkspawn blood (or near enough).

As for my list:

Oren:  Voice grating, must resist urge to strangle nephew.
Oriana: The nerve of that woman telling me I can't teach my Fereldan nephew to use a sword.  If he's strong enough to lift it he's old enough to use it.
Velanna:  I understand she lost her sister and a lot of her friends, I sympathize, but sitting in an abandoned mine surrounded by 3 well armed people she is in absolutely no position to be making demands.  Also as Anders puts it, "You know that chip on your shoulder?  I think it's replaced your head."

I really wish I could hate Nathaniel but the boy's too damn reasonable, just couldn't take after his father could he.

There are only two people I really hate

Velanna: She is too overly critical and will complain about anything even if you try to be nice to her. Many people would compare her to Morrigan but at least Morrigan appreciates it when you do something nice to her and eventually accepts you as a friend. Velanna would yell at you if you would tell her that she would make a good keeper or give her a journal so she can write stories about the Dalish. She is also the only one who would not later on talk to you and say she now considers you a friend in any way. Even if you are Dalish yourself, she'll still act hostile.

Arl Howe: He has scum written all over his face. Especially so if you are a Human Noble. At least Tim Curry voiced him.

Well to be fair, the conversation ends with her recognizing it's a great gift and thanking you for it. But yeah, she is way too snappy.

Velanna is the flat out DUMBEST companion you can get in Awakening.

How do you not notice the darkspawn skipping through the woods, or the giant open air pit filled with rotting corpses, that would be covered in flies and reeking.

You could smell that for MILES, plus there are drag marks showing where the darkspawn dragged the bodies into the pit.

I recruited her a few times, and she is ok but on the whole....

There is stupid and then there is:

I have Anders, already so I dont need a racist, dumb, and arrogant little Dalish castoff to annoy me.

I admit that after my last run of Awakening, I have somewhat softened my stance on Velanna.

I used to hate her (killed her in one playthrough), but the character I was playing had a lot in common with Velanna (if romances were available and Velanna was available and bisexual, she would've gone for her) and for some reason I see her in a different light now.

It also helped that I used a different headmorph...

1. Oghren. I want to like this guy, but he is a complete stereotype.

2. Velanna. I just find her annoying and unreasonable in the extreme.

I don't really dislike any other party member.

It depends on what you mean by dislike. I thought all the characters worked well within the stories and were very effective. Some of them I wanted to kill, but saw sides to them that made it difficult to dislike them entirely (Loghain). Some of them I disliked a great deal, but worked within the story, such as Velanna. It was very, very hard for me not to kill her right off the bat, even knowing how useful she would be, and my PCs don't always manage not to. Made for some good roleplay. I liked Oghren in Origins, but disliked him in Awakening quite a lot. Still, his quest was badly bugged, and I plan to do another playthrough to fix that and Sigrun's bugged quest. Maybe I'll like him better when I can do something about him--although that would make him any less pissy (in the a-hole sense, not drunken, although both work. ;) )

Since people have already gone into that in detail, I'm certain you already know.

Anyone think Anora's **** attitude was hawt? I mean she betrays you twice and wont deny it. even when you marry her, she says remember who is queen.

Oghren in Awakenings. I got tired of trying to joke with him and getting disapprovals. I couldn't stand him in Origins either. The traveling merchant, especially near the end of the game, Holy Maker not you again!

@ ok go

I call her a ***** at the landsmeet just for the fun of it.

I'm getting a bit concerned for Old Tegrin - I've done all but one of the main quests and I haven't run into him once! Did he meet with an accident?

Huh. It's interesting that you should mention that. He's really been playing hard to get in my current playthrough....

Creepy.

Lily - Stole my blood mage from me causing me to betray them out of spite and revenge. Fat cow

Sandal - Should be recruitable. Did you see the Darkspawn corpses in Fort Drakon. Would have finished the game in like 3 hours with Belkar the Dwarf in my party.

The dying soldier in the Kokari Wilds - "We don't have time for this."
