not only that... after you rescue her, if you said that i am here to rescue her, she will betray you as well by saying you kidnap her.
i don't like her a single bit, since she is loghain's daughter, and should die like her father to purge the throne.

I like her. She never betrayed me. I was quite suspicious at first and kept waiting for her to turn against me, but she never did. I ended up supporting her, go figure. :D

The characters that managed to unnerve me the most were Howe and Cauthrien. Even if now I understand the reasons of Cauthrien's loyalty. I'm unable to hate Loghain after the Landsmeet. He constantly tried to jeopardize my entire plan, he was paranoid, ruthless, even cruel, obsessed to the point of madness. But not evil. And he was right about many things.

Anora is awesome. She's far more worthy of the throne than Alistair (though I usually end up having them marry each other for political reasons), and quite the looker as well.

And yes, Cauthrien gets on my nerves quite a bit - mainly because she dares to defend Howe as the "teyrn of Highever" when I call him out on killing my family. She's a thoughtless lapdog - I usually kill her, but I haven't on recent playthroughs (again for political reasons).

I just arrived in Denerim for the first time on my current palythrough, by the way - and found two other characters I hate.

Goldanna: What a hateful, gold-digging wench this woman is (with an annoying voice to top it off). She's in sore need of the murder knife, if you ask me - but I suppose Alistair wouldn't take too kindly to that.

Habren: This is the little snot standing at one of the market stalls - you don't actually talk to her (thank the Maker), but she always makes smarmy remarks when you walk by her. I think she's Arl Bryland's daughter - she should've been featured in a Slim Couldry mission or something.

It's hard to argue against Velanna's stupidity...especially when the game itself mocks her for it...

Remember, the Architect's journal mentions that he was surprised honestly at how easily Velanna fell for his manipulations...

(I get the impression that the architect was expecting Velanna to figure it out quickly but was stunned that she didn't)

Alistair-I just feel it's a betrayal when he's unreasonable about the subject of Loghain.

Bhelen-I usually end up making him King, but I don't trust him farther than I can throw him.

Morrigan-I actually think she and Alistair would be a perfect pair, given how self-absorbed they both are. It's really not a very good deal she offers at the end also.

Howe: His last scene is his best. I felt seething hatred for him. I actually kind of connected with my character and I went completely ballistic when fighting him...

Goldanna: Girl, please. No. Alistair came all the way to see you and you just sit around and yell.

Cailen: Oh look! An ogre! Hurr

After several minutes of amusement (and surprise then this has not turned into a flame war), I meant to add my hates -which are more or less the same as everyone else, for much of those reasons-
But I had a wonder, Alistair -er, I mean, I was curious about something.. Is there some universally  liked character? Because it seems even the ever loyal dog, who, unlike the rest of whining primadonnas you are stuck with, never complains, and brings you staffs, helmets and cake (cake!) has its detractors...

Nope.

Don't think there's one universally loved companion that has speaking lines (so no, Dog doesn't count)

Cammen: WOW. te..... he he he..... *sigh* haha, WOW, Fail, just.... Fail.

Howe: Obviously

Vaughn(however you spell it): Also Obvious

Wynne: Just....*Sigh* stop preaching me....

Oghren in Awakening
: What happened to him??? he was great in Origins, now he's just...... ugh.

Velanna: Morrigan-Wanna-Be.

Justice: He's boring, uninteresting and frankly, kinda stupid.

Isolde: Hypocritical B***h

Marjolaine: She F**ked Leliana (in Both ways). and btw.... Who Talks like this?!?!?!?!

Aaaaaaaand just because i want to, i'm going to talk about DA2 as well:

Anders: He was Hilarious in Awakening, now..... he got the Oghren threatment.

Fenris: Can you do me a favor Fenris? Go back to Final Fantasy and leave me alone.

Sebastian: ok, Sebastian, you're gonna tell me who cares about him and you exactly one sec-times up.

Elthina: Are you gonna do something? don't just stand around there like an Idiot! you have power! U-S-E it!

Orsino: Even worse than Cammen. One of the Worst Antagonists i've seen in the last couple of years.

Meredith: Saren-Wanna-Be.

Now, i'm gonna put the characters that i'm neutral on.
It's not that i HATE them by any means, or even dislike them, they're just..... "meh" to me:

Origins:

Eamon: He's generic work guy number 93555

Loghain
: his personality is unappealing to me and he's Over-The-Top voice drives me INSANE(Still, i will admit that he is a very interesting and well fleshed out character and i can see why someone would like him)

Harrowmond(or however you spell it): i Guess he is a nice guy..... But he's a TOOL, a complete and utter TOOL.

Teagan: One Word: Overrated.

Awakening:

Nathaniel: i just don't care.

DA2:

Aveline: She definetely has her moments(when she knocked the Darkspawn when we first met her, i was like "that was pretty freaking sweet"), but somethings about her just ****** ME OFF. Her sub plot was a f***ing sitcom, it was painful, i could barely watch(note: i hate sitcoms. God Bless America for S***ty tv)

Merrill: i think she's a good character.... but a very polarazing one.
She will either make you go "AWWWWWWW" for her cuteness..... or will irritate you.
She irritated me.

DA:O

Alistair: Dude you might just ****ing realize you aren't the only single person in the whole goddamn world who lost someone close to them.
Cailan: Betraying your wife and trying to sell your country for the Empress's ******? Lossing thousands of soldiers in an unwinable battle just for za GLORY!
Eamon:
Helping the Empress take over Fereldan.
Goldanna: Look you idiot, no one forced you to get 6 ( I believe don't recall ) bloody children.
Harrowmont: The pathetic tool for the nobility, who the hell would ally him and think it was the best for Orzammar?
Isolde: I get it mothers can be protective of their children, but seriously?
Trian: Respect is earned not given freely. Which is what he wants.
Zathrian and his entire clan: I don't care what people saying, to think that such a thing as what Zathrian did would be kept a secret in such a tight knit community seems impossible for me. So yes I hold them all acountable.
Wynne: If she wasn't the best healer I would kill her every bloody time.

DA:A

Mhairi: Foolish girl that reminded me of the glory seeking Cailan, though to her credit she is not as worse as him.
Varrel: I'm supposed to trust this guy with my life as the Arl, how exactly does that go when he turned against his former Arl, even if that person was Howe how exactly am I supposed to trust him?

Not sure why people think Velanna is cold as hell in the silverite mines, I recall her saying something to the effect of: Your wife would prefer YOU alive then your stupid ring.

DA2:

Carver: I have a brother whom I have disputes with...but really?
Meredith and Orsino.

So we're talking main and secondary characters?

DA:O
Leliana (ducks and hides, didnt hate her she just didnt grow on me), Wynne, Cailin, Anora, Vaughn (CE Origin, enough said), Arl Howe, Lady Isolde (that voice "Oh Teagan!") and Duncan (don't get the obession with him, yeah he saves your life in the origins and helped out Alistair, I just didnt warm up to him, his death didnt do anything for me, wasnt sad or mad)

DA:A
Justice

DA2:
Sebastian, Meredith, Keeper Marethari, Isabela, Anders

Initially I never liked Oghren, Sten, Nathaniel and Carver until I did multiple playthroughs.

I never got the hate for Anora-she isn't any more treacherous than half the companions in your party under the right circumstances.

Zevran-betrays you to the Crows if your approval isn't high enough.

Leliana and Wynne-attack you if you defile the Ashes.

Shale-Will either leave or attack you if you fight Caridin.

Alistair-turns his back on the Wardens and Ferelden if you spare Loghain.

Morrigan-runs away if you turn down her Ritual, right before the Final Battle. I really wish you could kill her.

The truth is that Dog is the only one you can really count on. The Warden even references it in Awakenings, when he says half of his friends have wanted him dead. Back to Anora-at least she has wanting the throne as a legitimate excuse-none of the companions have a legitimate one.

Leliana because she bores me with her "HAHA I'm so girly" and because she has a stupid faux-French accent.

Shale, because it's gender confused.

Alistair because he gets pissed if you let Loghain live and you can't romance him even though he's blatantly into my male Warden.

The Dog because it doesn't have anything worthwhile to say.

Morrigan bcause she says 'tis incessantly.

Zevran because he's bisexual and keeps hitting on my Warden.

Wynne because she's old and grandmotherly.

Sten because he's about as exciting as mud and communicates about as well.

Oghren because he's a dwarf but has a silly Yank accent instead of a Scots or Yorkshire accent.

Loghain is brilliant because he's Simon Templeman.

If you want to take 'em srsly then yeah, they should have Scottish or even Yorkshire accents. They're meant to be a gruff and hardy people and American accents just don't suit them since the Yank accent is about as intimidating as a small child. I mean I like the American accent, I think it's adorable, but it's just not gruff or hardy. A Scots brogue is much better suited to them.

I have to agree with The Xand. Although I understand your point, redplague, that there is no universal rule that dwarves need to speak a certain way with a specific accent. But during gameplay, it completely breaks immersion for me when any dwarf starts talking like some larper in costume.

Loghain - the most incompetent general and politician ever.

Morrigan - I don't find her comments funny. Just dumb.

Leliana - false convert - joined the Chantry to escape Marjolaine and now acts holier than Divine

Bann Teagan? He tells off Loghain, Anora, and Isolde :police:. And you can't forget the jazzhands. Everyone loves jazzhands.

Howe and Vaughan are the two characters I despise.

Even Teagan has his detractors...Especially those who blame him largely for the bannorn for not falling into place after Ostagar (mostly Loghain fans/supporters)
