No offense, but being French I found the Orlesian accents funny, you could tell those weren't their real accents.  I know its a resource issue but anyone feel the same about accents?

Wasn't one of the VA's - Leliana, I think - actually French?

In any event, so long as the accent doesn't sound like a parody, I'm fine with a fake one. It's done all the time in movies, TV. If it's decent, it's fine with me.

They're not french. Maybe the Orlesian accent sounds like actors pretending to do a french accent.

Most of the British accents seemed to be emphasised a little to make the differences apparent but they all sounded fine, if rather randomly mixed.

Yes, Corrine Kempa — Leliana's voice actress — is French. The OP likely knows that, as well.

Leliana had relocated to Fereldan. It matched her voice actress, originally from France but living in London. There weren't too many other Orlesians, Anora's maid sounded sort of french to my untrained ear, if not french perhaps she was Canadian? They have said that they prefer to use genuine accents.

Leliana's accent was real.

I apologize to all French speakers for the pain that was Miss Teghaaaan.

Oh, The Highlander actor was French and could hardly speak any english. He did a almost perfect job of a Scottish accent (At least from a Canadian pov).

I thought that I had heard that BW was going to use Welsh actors for the Dalish. I may be misremembering things however.

Leliana's VA was provided by Corinne Kempa. She is French.

That doesn't make her stop being French, does it?

Good point. They are supposed to be somewhat like medieval French accents as best represented by the French soldiers in th Holy Grail.

No, I'm pretty sure they revoke your Frenchiness if you leave the motherland.

The only accent in DAO I had a problem with was Isolde, because it was just so...whiny. Leliana's bugged me at first but I think that was more character-based than a problem i had with her VA, and she grew on me after a couple of play-throughs.

The bigger issue for me is that I can't hear Simon Templeman's voice in any other game without yelling "LOOOOGHAAAAIN!", much to my boyfriend's delight, let me tell you.

My French teacher in high school had a "fake" accent. In that she had that terrible stereotypical French accent you claim no one actually has. But she was from France. In fact she missed the first class due to visa problems. Just because you didn't like an accent doesn't mean it's fake. Some people do sound that way.

Most of the VA in Origins were using the appropriate accents, hence how expensive they were. They even recorded in the UK for some of them, if I recall. I expect the quality in DA 2 will be just as high.

And yeah, add me to the "Isolde was annoying" bandwagon but I don't think that was because she didn't sound Orlesian/French enough. I think we're not supposed to like her.

Oh, I missed this. Lol, by that rationale I am no longer American because I live in Australia. Who knew? I guess my American accent must be totally fake.

Oh, I hated, Bannessa? Teghan, my first playthrough my decision to slit her throat was heavily influenced by not hearing her use it any more.

Here is a list of all the voice actors and their roles. Just click on the actor and you should see where they are from.

Or you may comment blindly and be shown the fool. Your choice.

If country of origin isn't listed, try googling the name.
