It's not that the ending of ME 3 was bad or anything, but it leaves you with this hole.... like ..... eeeeeh..... so wat just happened. Is the galaxy safe? No mass relays makes it a happy ending?

Did Liara and Garrus survive after that insane run to that beam thingy?

And wat abt Tali's face? Javik sed they're supposed to be legendary in their looks. And yet all we see are tow white eyes behind a blue face mask. WOW. Real beauties they are..... LOL

And are the Krogan now gonna be more docile and less 'ARGH' under Udrnot Wrex (If you save him in ME1)??

| really really hope they make an ending similar to urs. I didnt want Shepard to die. It's not fair. And in the end when he dies and all you see his tortured sad face and blue eyes ..... and that music .... stab to the heart man.

I mean ME 1 had an ending.
ME 2 had such a good ending ( if you survive with everybody).

Many gamers are saying that it's ok if squad mates or Shepard dies n all, but lets face it. Would you have enjoyed seeing Tali melt into nothing if you had not saved her in ME 2's suiced mission?!?! Would you have enjoyed seeing Samara/Miranda under rubble raising their hand and then dying?!?!? Would you rather have enjoyed seeing seeing Grunt get swarmed by all those Rachni and die, or see him fight all those Rachni and prevail ( like how he would if you kept him loyal in ME2).

What the creators did with ME 3 is classic example of difference in views!

Case in point- DEEP IMPACT VS ARAMAGEDDON.
Both movies were based on an asteroid hitting the Earth. But the two stories have different endings.
DEEP IMPACT: Great film, sad ending. Asteroid hits earth, lots of people die. Remaining half of asteroid gets blown up to prevent world annihilation. So great film, but you feel sad, depressed and **** scared of asteroids.

ARMAGEDDON: So-so film, great helluva ending. Asteroid blows up spectacularly in space. The Earth is saved. People are happy. People do die, yes. But the ending is certain. Earth lives!! No one gets scared of asteroids ‘cause when you’ve got such jarheads piloting a mission, how can you lose?!?!?! LOL !!! Only daddy dearest dies. But Who the fudge cares about him : )! You want to see Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck make out in the end anyway (Just as how Liara/Miranda/Tali/Ashley should’ve in ME 3)!

What the bioware team wanted to create was a deep-impactish moment. Bitter-sweet. And the ending they created is bitter-sweet, but it left too much room for interpretation. You don’t really know if the galaxy is safe again. After all, the mass relays were destroyed. The whole story was not simply about getting rid of the Reapers, it was about the connections that you make with the various species and squad mates.

The Bioware team ought to do something similar to what Bungie did with the Master Chief in Halo 3. Don't kill the protagonist, yet don't make it look like a resounding victory. Let there be room for hope of a better galaxy. Destroying the Mass realys (which, if I'm not mistaken, when blown destroy an entire solar system) and killing Shepard does not really cut it. No matter how 'ARTISTIC' you want the game to be, that is just not cool .......

Bottom line:
ME3 needs a better ending. The fans aren’t asking for a more ‘realistic ending’. Hell, ME1 or 2’s ending was unrealistic, but who cares. It’s our Shepard playing badass against the ‘old machine’ and he’s backed by some of the most colorful squad mates (literally) in the galaxy. He’s Armageddon’s Ben Affleck. So preferably, don’t let him die. There needs to be a MASS EFFECT 4 after all.

In any case don't change the actual ending (with an exception: let survive in any way the good synthetics, like Geths and IDA!), but furnish a comprehensible and consistent expansion, with this two possible options:

1) if Shepard dies (low war assets): Garrus trying to reconstruct galactic wide-ranged communications in an expansion-quest involving the retrieving of a Prothean data-base with instruction for mass-relay rebuilding -everyone should remember that the final quest of ME1 is possible because protheans effectively costructed a little mass-relay. This story-line should be introduced by a reliable scene, or series of scenes, including the complaints about Shepard's demise;

2) if Shepard survives (high war assets), Shepard trying to reconstruct galactic communications in an expansion-quest involving the retrieving of a Prothean data-base with instruction for mass-relay rebuilding -everyone should remember that the final quest of ME1 is possible because protheans effectively costructed a little mass-relay. This story-line should be introducted by a reliable scene, or series of scenes, including the explanation for Shepard's healing.

A proviso: you must explain how in "Arrival" an exploding mass-relay can destruct a solar system, and why that's (probably) not the case for other mass-relays. A suggestion for that: you could explain that the mass-relay in arrival was a special one (similar to the Omega 4 relay, for example). That's not the best way but such a narrative expedient, or similar ones, should work enough.

In any case i never thought you should change the ending. A post-Shepard Galaxy with a crisis of wide-ranged interstellar travels would be a very fine sci-fi scenario. In such a fictional universe, assuming that mass-relays' general collapse didn't distruct the life in all main solar systems, you could have an interesting situation.

We can assume, first of all, that iperdrive permitted by mass effect physics is still working. That could permit faster than light interstellar travels in a range of few psc, or dozen of psc. In consequence of that, race with short life (humanity, salarians, turians) should face an age of divisions and troubles; race with long life (asari, krogans) could dominate galaxy. Image a galaxy similar to Omega, with a council formed by asari matriarchs very similar to Aria T'Loak and krogan warlords...

Dream Mass Effect ending you say?

How about ending that makes sense and doesn't create massive plot holes... I would be thrilled with that ending dead Shepard or no.

Note: a rough imagination based on my romance with Tali.

The Reapers are dead. Shepard returns injured to Earth via the beam site. Tali rushes to him an hugs him.

TALI - "Shepard!"

SHEPARD - "Tali..."

TALI - "Oh Keelah!"

SHEPARD - "Hey...(chuckles) I've been better."

TALI - "Shepard...when that beam hits us and then when we came to you were gone! I couldn't believe you were dead! No! And then EDI said you're still alive in the Citadel, but the others keep pushing us saying you're dead. We tried to call you but there was no response...and then...and then...."

SHEPARD - "Tali...you worry too much (smiles)..."

TALI - "(removes mask to everyone's surprise) I love you..."

SHEPARD - "Keelah se'lai."

The couple shares a long kiss. Dr Chakwas appeared on site via a Kodiak.

CHAKWAS - "Welcome back, Commander..."

TALI - "Dr. Chakwas!"

SHEPARD - "Chakwas...surprised to see you here."

CHAKWAS - "He'll be alright, Tali. We'll be taking him to the Med Bay."

TALI - "I'm coming along."

CHAKWAS - "Of course, dear...of course."

Shepard was made to lay in a stretcher by the med team as he was taken away with Tali following him into the Kodiak bound for the Med Bay.
