As the title says I'm looking for a decent build for Jade Empire and because I'll be playing the closed fist way it should have the "evil" talents in it.

I bought Jade Empire 3 months ago and only played through Two Rivers, because I got Bioware Points as a present and got stuck at Dragon Age again ;). At the moment I'm playing Fallout: New Vegas and it will take some time to finish it, so I've plenty of time for waiting of input in this thread.

From the sources I've studied (a very empty wiki and the old bioware boards) I know this:

http://jade.bioware....47912&forum=108

As far as I remember, you can max out 4 styles or 12 full lines in Jade
Empire. According to your taste you can max out only one or two lines
(properties) for a chosen style. For example, you can max out everything
for martial and weapon styles, duration and speed for your support
style and spirit thief, chi cost reduction and damage for your
transformation style,etc.

Looks very easy, but since I lack ingame experience I'm not sure which "lines" of the styles I should max out.

My initially idea was the following:

-Taking the Tiger Shen toon and giving him the stats from Lu the Prodigy (balanced) and taking the balanced option every level up.
-Leaving White Demon as martial style, because I've read its one of the best.
-Also max out one weapon style.

No its becoming complicated for me.
There are two weapon styles that look interesting for me:
1. The swords.
2. The dual swords.
But which should I pick? I've noticed in the tutorial that when I spend points in the sword and then switch to the useless staff all points invested in the sword are simply gone.
Will it be the same when I later switch from one sword to another?

Another issue I know that "Spirit Thief" is essentially, but what should I level in this style? Duration, damage or the other one?

And the support style:
Should I wait till i get "Hidden Fist" or is "Heavenly Wave" the better choice?

I wanted to take "Tempest" as magic style but again like with "Spirit Thief" I've absolutely no idea which of the things I can level in this style are important.

And finally the last question which transformation style is the best.

I read a lot of people took "Jade Golem", but I thought that you can get it very late in game so what should I take before I get it. Or are there alternatives that are better than "Jade Golem"?

I know that are many questions and this board isn't so well visited, but like I said I've plenty of time to wait for results and I'm hoping someone can help me.

=)

It's not really worth leveling spirit thief. Its main purpose is to restore your mana and it does this even in its unbuffed state. I never put any points into it. As long as you're good at playing keep away while build up your mana, there's no reason to level it.

Unless you're going for a more spirit oriented build Jade Golem and other transformation styles are complete mana hogs.

I prefer Heavenly Wave over Hidden Fist; the debuff seems more useful to me.

There are three swords that all use the same skill tree; they all count under "Longsword." I would go with Fortune's Favorite at the start when choosing a weapon and stick with it, as the stronger swords both deal great damage.

You seem pretty set on your martial style, but if you change your mind on it I recommend Thousand Cuts, which is just a fun little style.

Overall though, the game is pretty easy as long as you pick styles early and stick to them, so you have some wiggle room.

In other words:

Because I don't have to spend points in Spirit Thief and Transformation I can max out 4 Styles completley.

White Demon
Heavenly Wave
Tempest
Longsword

Hm haven't guessed it could be so easy.

I think I've read that you can get Tempest at the second location.
Sound good so I can start maxing out the styles very early

Thank you =].

Anytime. It's one of my favorite games and I'm just glad to see someone giving it a try.

1 - Dual sabers are faster and deal more damage than longsword. They work great in style combos too. Longsword slashes in an arc that catches anyone nearby, but I rate it below the two dual saber styles and Tang's Vengeance.

2 - I prefer Hidden Fist for its aesthetics. Heavenly Wave looks graceful but is not as badass. :P Its slow effect does last a bit longer though. However, Hidden Fist is faster--particularly its area attack. I never had any trouble relying on a zero rank Heavenly Wave until learning Hidden Fist. Ditto with weapon styles. It just takes a less reckless approach to combat.

3 - You can get Tempest very early as long as you take every opportunity to be a total jerk. :pinched:

4 - Jade Golem is a terrible style. By terrible I do not mean weak. It is extremely powerful. It just saps all challenge from the game since there is almost no one that can stand up to that form for very long. If you want to be challenged at all, avoid it.

All that said, you should use whatever makes the game fun. :) While some styles have slight advantages over another, few are what I would categorize as worthless.
