DA2 - Dumb design, winning formula

Let's face it, 90% of the gaming population doesn't want DA:O again, they want DA:O mixed with ME2; ME2 was as winning formula for Bioware and I think they will start using it for most of their games.
I don't plan on playing DA2, because its not my cup of tea, but seeing gameplay footage it's not as bad as I expected. In fact, it looks fun. Maybe not all cerebral like DA:O, but possibly more "fun" in the pure sense of the word.
At this point I think Bioware will have two "philosophies" one for the MMO space with ToR which I expect to be a "true" PC game with all of the complexity and dressings and the console development team who concentrates on story and action-y combat.
Frankly I was very negative about this in the past (like 4 hours ago lol) but having seen some gameplay footage I can understand why Bioware is making the change. It appeals to more people and loses some of the "nerd" vibe that DA:O had.
So, my advice: play ToR if you liked Bioware of the last decade, and stop worrying about the consolification of their other fanchises.

Based on what exactly? And my advice: stay far away from MMOs. They suck people dry!

The only feature da2 have is the graphic... But an rpg streamlized as hell its not a Rpg... DA2 lose what maded DAO a nice rpg... And this is bad...
The difference is that... Some people thinks rpg as videogames.. Some others love rpg as a true passion and when a title loose too much many features is always bad...
Calling nerd the people that loves old school rpg is wrong...Also Calling monkey the people that plays console is wrong....
Also the "Leave dragon age 2 alone right now!" of some fanboys is wrong...
For me DA2 is not DA its another complete different game... And not so much rpg much more a sort of beat em up with a story and rpg elements....Same for mass effect... a shooter with a story with rpg elements....
For me those title are rpg:
Baldur's gate saga
Icewind dale saga
Neverwinter nights saga
Dragon age origins of course..
and Planescape torment....

If you want a heavily streamlined game that betrays its own roots, go buy DA2.

They are also "OLD" games (apart from DAO which is very different to the other titles), DA2 is a new game, a new game with new ideas and new mechanics.

What roots? DA2 is a root of its own, the root of a new flower that will bloom to the modernization of Bioware RPG's.

And why do people constantly mention TW2 in opposition to Dragon Age 2. They have announced it will be shorter, more story packed (like DA2) and it has always been much "dumber" than DA2, it doesn't even have the ability of changing swords. Funny how people who complain about DA2 lack of companion customization praise TW2 wihch doesn't allow for PC customization anywhere the same level of DA2.

Indeed, I would like someone to describe what that actually means, because I suspect what they usually mean is "I don't like the sound of it, but have no idea why"Ulous wrote...

No backhanded insult intended, I kind of had an epiphany while watching a DA2 gameplay video that made me step back and see it for what it was: a fun game. Kind of like Ninja Gaiden (awesome console game back in the day) mixed with DA:O.
ToR on the other hand will be ALL about stats/gear/min-maxing with some Bioware story on top (winning formula IMO).
A true "DA2" is actually the Witcher 2, from what I've seen of each game at least.

And according to gamercenteronline "BioWare has just announced that Dragon Age: Origins has sold over 3.2 million units worldwide, granting Dragon Age triple platinum status." This was in February.

I like ME2, but Dragon Age didn't have to copy ME2. It did very well commercially.

I primarily play BioWare games for the storylines. RPG mechanics are less important to me than good writing.
I agree with you. Completely. It's one of the things I look for first when considering a game.
However, in before "then go watch a movie ******."
