Watch Idiocracy and tell me DA2 isn't "St. Gods"
Easily one of my favorite movies.
Please don't drag it into this. The sort of thing happening in DA2 being compared to what one sees in that film is an egregious abuse of hyperbole. I think even the most vocal opposers of the design decisions should see that.
Ahh, but hyperbole illuminates something hard to see.
Idiocracy is merely a shadow of reality taken to the extreme to make a point.
US test scores for high schoolers wouldn't be at an all time low if I was spouting falsehood.
DA2 is just another domino to fall towards U.S. President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho

I think it would be the most expensive game ever made if every line was voiced.

I understand your point of view about the issue, but my take on it is this: both approaches are equally valid, and the paraphrasing (as implemented in DA2) allows for a more intuitive approach. However, you insist that your preference for the complete control available through completely written lines of dialogue a la DA:O is the only right way.
Again, I understand that you want total control as part of your approach to games, but we'll just have to continue to disagree about this - heh.

I understeand your point of wiew crim but the difference is that full written answer have much more control of your character but the schematic paraphrase system not because is a radial way of dialogue and don't allow you to select what your character is going to say...
This difference for someone seems nothing... But in reality the different is present...
Schematic paraphrase system works better if you have a tolare predefined character.. This because a prefefined character have his personality...
A full written answer system works better if you are creating your character this because is much less intrusive and allows you to select what your character is going to say.. Now awakening its not a nice example for that because awakening be maked better.. Anyways the difference is this... The schematic one let you feel a spectator.. The full written answer make you feel inside your character.. This is a difference that not all understeands depends of how you play roleplay games.. Some don't worry of this change a lot.. Some yes.. because some of us like immersion in theyr character.. And a character that talks alone is much more intrusive than one that you have the complete control of what your character is going to say.. i hope to have explained it well
ok I see the "writing in italian" approach failed because you are still not getting it
wether you can read the WHOLE sentence or just a summary of it your character answers will be THE SAME..the only thing that changes is the interface.
repeat with me
the answers are the SAME the only thing that changes is how you choose them

That's what I figured. Plus wasn't he pretty pre-defined to begin with?

I understand. Sounds like my fears have been realized.
He/she are from a different country. Read it closely, you will get it.
In summary: its a cluster F of action-y combat with little/no attention to tactical combat.
I've played the same demo at the same event. Is it more action oriented? More responsive? Yes. Is it an hack and slash button masher? No. Is it Dragon Effect? No. Is it the spiritual successor of BG2? No.
I suppose that Monica has only played the exagerated part because in the second part there is more need of tactical combat. From what I've get from consolle posters on the forum about the differences in term of gameplay between PC and consolle and considering that the demo was fixed at easy difficulty (that's what Laidlaw told us), the differences are there but they are not so strong as Monica83 is making them imho.
I't very different to play the game with a fixed 3rd view and a consolle controller. I think that Monica's opinions lack a little bit of context.

Not really. You're still playing the same dude, but you get to choose his personality, and physical makeup (stat-wise) which influences dialog.
It is about as pre-defined dialog-wise as BG.

He was. But there was quite a few ways to play him differently, so it didn't feel too restricting. Besides - and there's where having a good story totally pays - it didn't matter much. You simply wanted to know what's the deal with that guy really, really bad.

Suggestion: either find a way to have an actual discussion, avoiding the insulting pronouncements, or simply don't post. Or use one of the existing threads that already touch on this sort of topic.
Much obliged.

I'm speaking of legitimate concerns stemming from ME2, and the BW tidbits that suggest a similar outcome with DA2.
As far as I know DA2 still has inventory for your character, though I'm semi-expecting that to be a more Fable 3 implimentation than anything else.
Technically ME2 still had "inventory" for Shepard as well, though I think it would be about as loose an interpretation of the word as possible. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to find the same for Hawke.
