you know, news might also be if they announce ME3 is about timetravel, and the setting is London
reapers ae a bit older than that. also. even by my own standards that would be over the top. even if I do love time travelling stories

That's like saying Eden Prime is the setting for ME1 when we first saw the trailer.

I prefer 2012 for more RPG and story to be more specific (and less pew pew)

why is ME3 news?
I've been wondering the same thing ever since the ComplainSquad got their panties in a twist about the spinoff rumor. We know ME3 is coming out, the "official announcement" that the game's going to happen won't change a thing. I'll get excited when there's footage or a solid release date. Plus, honestly, I'd rather they take their time with the game and make it as close to perfect as possible.

That's appears to be a bad translation of what is probably bad communication of a rumor.

You do realize ME3 was confirmed before ME1 was out, right? They told us from the beginning that it would be a trilogy.
It has been confirmed but not announced. Hmm... I am kinda sceptical about this.

I never understood this logic. Nobody is saying the fact that they're making ME3 is news. EVERYBODY knows that. Excitement comes from just seeing actual footage of it! Something, anything.

Rumor: Mass Effect 3 for PS3, announcement coming next month
Thanks to a reliable tip, it seems that BioWare is poised to reveal information about Mass Effect 3 shortly. As with every gaming-related event, some major news is always leaked from behind closed doors, and this year's PAX was no different. Planning an announcement in October, BioWare will officially announce Mass Effect 3 and will also let it be known that the game is coming to the PS3.

Even more clues that it's probably Mass Effect 3. Though this would have made the announcement come in October, it makes sense they'd push it back for the VGAs.

In these situations it's easy for misinformation to be passed on as fact. Somebody mentioning the announcement of 'the new Mass Effect game' could be understood as that Mass Effect 3 will be announced when the person actually meant a new game in the Mass Effect universe will be announced.
Until EA or BioWare speak up and the news is official I'm not jumping to any conclusions.

And how do we know that somebody mentioning it didn't say "new Mass Effect game", rather really did say "Mass Effect 3"?
I'm not jumping to conclusions either. I'm just looking at all the info.

That's exactly my point. I don't know what was said, the people who heard it do, but even then only the person who actually said it knows what he or she meant.

My preference is for it to be a game in the Mass Effect universe, but not ME3. I'd quite like to see where BioWare go with a new project and I'm not at all impatient for ME3 to come out. I'd also rather this announcement be something new rather than the non-news it would be if it is ME3, which, like others have said, we all know is coming.
The timing would seem to suggest that this isn't ME3, as announcing it before ME2 is out on PS3 just doesn't seem sensible to me. I may well be wrong, though.

I'm sure they just assumed this trailer is for ME3, which it might not be
If it was a random dude on twitter, sure, but the fact that it's coming from Sony makes me think twice...I'm sure ME3 will be coming to PS3, and I would imagine Sony would be in the loop on its development and what's going on with it.

Meh. The only thing I will care to see is Mass Effect 3. Anything else other than ME2 DLC before the release of ME3 is a waste of time. I know we still have very little information to go on, but come on Bioware! What the hell are you thinking?
That's exactly what I'm thinking =/
