Open your "My Documents" folder. There, you should find a folder called "Neverwinter Nights 2". Open up the "Neverwinter Nights 2" folder and you will find lots of folders.

1) Download files from NWVault.

2) Find .mod file. Put it in the folder called "modules" in the "neverwinter nights 2" directory you found.

3) If there is a .hak file (there may not be one. If there is not one, don't worry).

4) If there is a folder which is referred to as a campaign folder, put it in your folder called "campaigns" which is in the "neverwinter nights 2" directory you found.

This is the simplest way I can explain it. There are sometimes other files, like custom music and such which require more installs. I recommend you start with a simple game that only has a .mod file. Once you get more comfortable with installing modules, then you can try some of the more complicated stuff.

Once you get all the files in the righ place, start the game, and choose new module and you should find the title of the new module on the list. Select it and start the game.

Here are some specific insructions for a specific game called "Sheep and Stone". It has two files: a module file and a .hak file.

Go to http://nwvault.ign.com

Search for Sheep and Stone. Follow the link, then go to the files and download:

Sheep_and_Stone_v41.7z

This is a compressed zip file. You need a program to unpack it. If you don't have one, you can download 7-zip from the internet for free.

Unzip the files and you will find:

"loadscreens.hak"

"Sheep and Stone V4.mod"

put the .hak file in the folder "HAK" which is in the "Neverwinter Nights 2" directory I discussed above.

put the .mod file in the folder "modules" which is in the "Neverwinter Nights 2" directory I discussed above.
