Yea I know the titles a bit redundant but I was wondering if we were going to get any sort of "armor that looks like clothing" option in DA2.

Take Isabela and Varric for example where as they're armor is really just clothing, and I'd like to see something like that for our Hawkes too. (And no not just Mage robes, something more geared towards Rogues as I cant see a Warrior wearing clothing, but eh.)

Thoughts? :wizard:

I thought this thread was going to be about the padding you can use to upgrade ur companion's armor...or that each companion has two sets of clothing... exploration clothing and battle clothing.

I'd rather 'armour' that looks like 'armour' for all characters.

Nuh.

Since I cant change how the party looks I could care less, I'm more concerned of how I look.

Its not a big deal though, I'd just like to be a sword dancing Rogue coupled with some snazzy duds.

EDIT: @Godwood. Yea I'd like armor options too, Isabela in some spy-esque Leather armor would be sweet.

Although it's to late to make a difference I'd prefer real armour for companions as opposed to clothes, for obvious reasons.

Ehh, I'd be okay with armored clothing - padded coats, that kind of thing - if it was realistic. In other words, a padded coat shouldn't be more protection than actual armor.

I'm an American and I hate, hate "could care less."  Forget the queen.

Though I think "hold down the fort" is a portmanteau of "hold it down" and "hold the fort" but that's just a guess.  The former meaning something along the lines of "by my very presence I am representing some idea" and the latter meaning "through this activity, I am supporting the idea."  Vaguely speaking.  Ergo, "hold down the fort" implies that the speaker's simple presence is an action in support of the idea.

Right I understand where people are coming from of how fighting in Regal clothes is unrealistic but we're playing a game where one of our companions gives us a thong flash everytime she jumps around. Yet thats her armor, and not to mention Varric with his exposed chest-rug. But I guess thats one of the reasons why we're the leader and they arnt, cause we're the only ones smart enough to wear armor lol.

For a warrior and maybe another Rogue I'd wear some form of armor, but for my main rogue I'd like to be the eloquent sword-dancer too is all.

 Armor =/= Clothing
The closest you can come is a padded gameson which was like wearing a blanket, little protection, lots of sweating.

Personally, I hope that clothing has no armor properties at all, and that characters wearing them are entirely dependent on their skills for not getting dead. Anything else either takes away all semblance of reality, or makes magic so utterly commonplace that even shirts are enchanted. (I was going to say 'pants' before remembering that not all characters bother with those. ;) )

I made a gambeson for males, but making a female one is giving me fits. ;) I didn't make it stop swords or enable Alistair to leap tall buildings, though. It's just something to wear in camp at the end of the day that's logical to have because it would be under the armor.

I completely agree.  My favorite thing to do with the crafting system in Neverwinter Nights 2 was to take a suit of clothing and turn it into some totally badass armor so I could run around all the time wearing (basically) my pyjamas.  (I loved the fact that you could name crafted items in that game--I actually named the main set of armor I made for my swashbuckler/duelist/weaponmaster Cat "The Cat's Pyjamas").  ANYWAY.

I would love for my mage and rogue to run around the Free Marches in sweatpants and a t-shirt.  (Or the equivalent.)

I think it would be cool to have more clothing-esque outfits. It always seemed weird how ubiquitous full plate armor was in Origins, not to mention wearing it 24/7. I don't think a standard set of trousers and a jerkin need to give you the same protection as full plate, but it would be nice if it were supported to some extent, realism be damned. I mean, you could wear plain clothing in DAO too, but at a serious disadvantage. I know many people will see that as exactly how it should be, but I just think this is one case where deviating from the realism course could make the game more fun.

Although I just have to say I would love for armor to look like this:

It looks pretty protective, and yet it looks as though you could achieve some remote sense of comfort in it as well. (I think the armor worn by mage Hawke in the Destiny trailer also fit this idea, as well as Duncan's armor in DAO). And most importantly, it looks badass.

I don't mind people wearing regular clothing in "civilized" areas. However, I'd expect people who are willingly engaging in adventure (and expect combat) to wear protective gear during said exploration.

That is indeed a fine suit of armor.

I completely missed the lack of decent clothing items in Origins, particularly for rogues. I'm the type of player who doesn't care too much about stats. If it's not the best item but I can survive in it and it looks cool, I'll probably wear it. So I don't care if the clothing items in DA2 are disadvantaged in stats, as long as they're available. Don't let our companions have all the fun with wildly impractical outfits.

Wow didnt expect this to be a first pager still lol.

It doesnt necessarily HAVE to give you armor per say, as trying to justify that a regal frilly shirt and fancy trousers would give you the same protection as a set of heavy (or god forbid) massive plate.

Maybe something along the lines of Reapers vestments where it would say give a massive dex boost to aid in dodging and maybe some physical resistance bonus too (and a mental one so I stop getting misdirected by mages >:o.)

And yes, I would REALLY love some Duncan esqe armor. I'm so jealous he gets both a cool unique armor AND hairsyle when he's only in the game for like 2 parts. -_-

Well, Duncan's beard already wears Hawke. It's a matter of time it makes Hawke wear the awesome armor.

If you want, I can crush your hope before it builds up more:
For some reason I can't fathom, the art team decided to sidedate (I was going to type update, but so far I've seen no upping) the look of Dragon Age. Since they have reworked all the looks in-game, I don't know if they'll find time to update Duncan's armor for wear.
Better?

I dont think it would be exactly Duncans armor.

Anykind of armored top and robe bottom set would be ultra-beyond cool.

Ala-Darth Revan the one Jedi/Sith NO Star Wars character will ever be able to compare to even remotely on the same level.

Revan is the Dante of everything.

I think we'll at least get the town clothing, just look at how Hawke is wearing clothing while he and crew are Kirkin' it up in Kirkwall during the Ride to power trailer.

Sort of like the clothing we'd wear in ME2 on the Normandy.

I just don't want to spend too much time switching from armor to clothing, it reminds me of Oblivion, where there were sooo many clothing/armor choices I started to feel I was playing with dolls instead of playing a game.

It takes time to take off armor, decide what clothes my pc is going to wear today to go to town, quickly switch back to armor if I'm suddenly attacked, not to mention it really clutters up inventory. I have a friend whose whole love of rpgs is collecting and changing armor to the point where I don't think he has ever finished a whole game. I wouldn't mind one outfit for town, although I doubt I'd use it much, but I hope there's not an endless amount of it.

In NWN2 there was a choice to buy regular clothing in the Vale Theatre, and I bought Gann a fancy hat, but there just wasn't much time in the game to keep changing from clothing to armor if you ever wanted to finish it.
