As I say in all of my thread posts I don't know if there are other threads about this because I don't want to go searching through the million of pages there are. If there is send me a link and I will see what is on that one.

Dear Forum People and Developers,

Now I am not saying it is not cool that the our character gets a voice or anything. The only thing that kinda turns me off the idea is, "what if I don't like the persons voice or how about if I pictured a person in my head thats voice was completely different from the one the voice actor gives?" Also are there going to be different voice actors for each sex? (I mean more than 1 guy voice actor and 1 female voice actor?)

Is there a way to make it that if you do not like your characters voice actor that you can turn off his or her voice and have it like how it was in the old games, or do you have to leave it on, or take off all of the voices?

PS.
I am not usually one to get deeply into role playing but I always liked being able to make up how my character sounded in my head. I always found it fun and felt that it allowed me to get into my character more. I am sorry if other people agree.
-I am not really sorry-

I hope voices have a "stfu" button in case it is irritating, but I would imagine Mr and Mrs Hawke will have a good voice behind them, even if it's not what we imagined it as I think it'll grow on us.

I agree with you kusvuari. I bet they will have good voice actors but i mean sometimes I picture a different voice for my people then what the actors have. I usually like giving my people cool Russian accents most of the times or make them sound like Mattias Nilsson from mercenaries.

Maaaaaaaaan, Mark Meer's voice makes my ears bleed. So as long as they stay away from his pitch....I think I'll be a-okay.

Wow my stuff didn't type the first time... Soooo I had said that Nilsson is by far one of the best characters and voices in gaming history and i am also sad that mercs got cancelled even tho the third game looked stupid for what i had saw about it online.

I've previously found silent characters amusing and have often noticed how in third person games like Dragon Age, Jade Empire, or even non-RPGs like Dead Space, a silent, emotionless protagonist feels very odd. Voiced NPCs usually have an emotional depth that the non-voiced PC doesn't get.

At the same time, Dude!Shep's voice was the reason I could never play Dude!Shep. I had no problem with the Witcher because I don't really 'identify' with that character, but I find myself worried that Lady Hawke's voice will turn me off.

Who are the voice actors? Have they announced it yet or are people just guessing right now?

Like mold, fungus, or mildew?

Seriously, if there is a voice that irritates you totally, it won't grow on you. How long as DA:O been out, and I don't recall seeing too many threads saying "Lady Isolde's voice and her cry of "Teeegannn" sort of grows on you after a while."

Personal viewpoint; I can't stand MaleShep's voice. The first maleShep I made never made it off the Normandy to Eden Prime. Just talking to Jenkins and Chakwas let me know I would never be able to play with a maleShep. If it wasn't for Jen Hale, I wouldn't have played the game at all. I have at least two characters of each class that I took to a high level and moved to ME2. I have 1 default maleShep that I used to see what the "no import" choices were in ME2; I never finished the game with him because I couldn't stand cringing every time he had a line of dialogue.

One reason I looked forward to DA:O was because I didn't have to wonder if I could tolerate the voice actor for my pc. Now the main reason I'm still checking in here is to see who the two Hawkes are going to be. Because if they have voices I can't stand, I can move DA2 to the "never bother with" pile.

Thats why I hope there is an optional "stfu" button for own character voicing.

What? you mean they were working on a 3rd game? I thought they shut down after the BLOW IT UP AGAIN DLC and before they EVER worked on the PS3 trophy patch. [That one still gets to me...]

They were working on a online game. That was suppose to be like how the new assassin's creed turned out without the storyline that Assassin's creed has. It was getting rid of most of the story and going into straight lets go try to blow each other up.

Yeah sorry back to the topic though. Characters and their voices. Does anyone know if they will have a way to make it so you can mute your characters voice yet keep everyone else's?

Oh another thing i wonder besides voices is does anyone else notice how the main characters that they use in the videos/ screenshots always look so much cooler than the ones you try to make? I remember trying to base my character off the guy from DA:O trailer and he didn't turn out nearly as cool.

There still should be a subtitle option, and you can always just turn the Sound SFX off. And of course, no game feature is going to trump imagination.

Are you talking about the CINEMATIC trailers?  Because the people in actual screenshots usually look about how they look in game.  The cinematic trailers aren't even animated by Bioware, they're farmed out to a company that does this stuff exclusively.  So, yeah, some artistic license creeps in.

Hmph, you people with your manshep hate are going to poison my opinion of his voice acting, I haven't had a problem with it thus far. Though the dialog between him and Liara has felt a bit wooden.

I hope so. Even if I didn't like the voice actor I would probably still end up buying the game. I would just mute my guy every time they have him talk.

I always preferred voiced games. It makes the characters seem more real, and shows that more effort was put into the game. Even if the acting is bloody awful, I still like it better than just text. In DAO, I understand why the PC wasn't voiced, since there were so many options, but at the same time it felt weird that all I could do was shout stuff in battle.

Indeed, the cinematic trailers for DA:O were made by Blur, though I recall there were headmorphs for the Warden, Morrigan, Leliana, and Sten available in the community if you wanted to look just like that.

In ME, DefaultShep's face wasn't made in the character creator but scanned into the game, which is why you can't recreate it.

Me, I'm hoping they try it for this game, get it out of their system, and go back to the unvoiced PC. I really, really don't care for voiced PCs and rarely buy games that have them. While I wish Hawke wasn't voiced in this game, I think it will be easier to accept within the framed narrative than it normally would be, though. In essence, we're playing a character from the past through other character's eyes. There's no real possibility of actually 'being' the character within that scenario, anyway. We're somewhat distanced from the character from the get go. The dialogue wheel will likely emphasize that, but.... *shrug* I'm just hoping for a change next time. It's not like they have a problem throwing out previous precedent.
