Also as i said before where did you guys hear this stuff or is this just stuff people randomly guess is going to happen and got accepted by everyone? A link would be great thanks.

I don't have a link, but the comment above about how paraphrases are going to work - namely how no words will be duplicated - is basically a direct paraphrase of something David Gaider said about how they go about writing paraphrases for each line.

Someone might have them - the links - handy, otherwise you get to have fun clicking on all the little "Bioware" icons under any thread which might cover the topic.

/shakes fist at Bioware forums' terrible search engine

Omg i know exactly what you mean tho. I always wish i could have said something while I heard my party members banter with each other. I felt SOOOO left out. -party banter part of it- So they are actually going to make it so hawke talks in the banter?

Yeah, Hawke is involve himself/herself from time to time.

Loads of information came from interviews / devs months ago when we found out about the system.

Wow.  Well, that absolutely sucks.  Which idiot thought this was a good idea?

This really may be a deal breaker for me.

An "idiot" I agree with, personally.  The DA:2 system as described is as close to my ideal as any CRPG has ever gotten.

Has anyone from BioWare ever stated the rationale for using the dialogue wheel/paraphrasing/voice acting in place of text? There must have been a reason for changing this.

Does the VA extend into the other languages–is it voiced in German, French, etc ?

I understand your confusion....the topic is Genre specific ..introducing generality , red and green trucks is moot.

It's really not, what you've done is a really common mistake when analysising market data: making the assumption that no other factors are involved.

You still haven't answered my earlier hypothetical, "Mr Unselfish Majority Opinion Holder."  Also, if you think calling a consumer "selfish" in a capitalist system is supposed to be an insult, I'm not sure what to tell you.  That's my role, to be selfish and buy products that appeal to or serve a useful purpose for me.

That's two questions, which do you mean?

Bioware explain using a voiceover at all, or Bioware explain using a paraphrase for the voiced dialogue as opposed to the exact line?

Here's a screenshot of the dialogue system with the icon, though it's one of the first screenshots released and might've changed since then.

No, they're not worth it. I'd rather have more game content than a voiced PC.

Does it work like that?

VO is work for the audio department and cinematics, would animators and sound recorders go away and construct a few rooms otherwise? I appreciate there might be more money, but thinking about it on a 1:1 scale is horrible oversimplification.

It does - it takes more money and more disc-space. Basically, the cost for each line of text increases by a factor 5-10 (estimated). Money that is better invested in other parts of the game.

So each of the chat things are going to have the symbols next to them like in the screenshot? that is pretty cool actually. Still i kinda wish i could tell exactly what was going to be said when i click the options but hey whatever.

Spacebar still does both.  What I did when replaying was to ensure that my mouse (or gamepad) was pointing UP when mashing spacebar.  Since there is no UP dialogue choice, it would skip the dialogue but not select the next line.

Hm, that's a good idea, thanks. Though I hope DA2 will just use ESC to bypass dialog and some other key to choose.

You see a lot of people claiming a problem with "not saying what I thought" but I never had an issue knowing what was coming out of Shep's mouth.

There were a couple of tone issues at times - most annoying one being a flirty FemShep with an NPC - but nothing more than I had in DAO when I picked a dialog line and apparently the non-voiced character delivered it 100% opposite the way I wanted it delivered.

The nice thing is you feel a lot more interactive because the conversation have a more natural flow to them and your character doesn't "speak" like he's Ernest Hemmingway with ADD.

So wait i have a question. will the dialog options we pick decide what might will be showed later in the game? Like if i make my guy really sarcastic will it give me more sarcastic options than normal ones or will it be the same options no mater what I picked?

The strength of video game as a media is that it has text, video, audio, and interaction. All of them.
Cutting voices and going back to text-only today is really gimping itself .

From what I understand, yes . . which oddly (perhaps) I don't think I'd have a problem with.

My problem is not knowing what sarcastic comment my Hawke will actually say . . .

Seeing how the basics of the actual interactions i would agree with you Hulk. I also feel tho that who they pick for the VA could make this game be really great or just good.

You do not need to accumulate sarcasm points to unlock sarcasm options like Paragon/Renegade in Mass Effect.

Your habits however will color Hawke's speech whenever you wouldn't normally have a choice - such as when he participates in party banter. It will keep Hawke's comments in character without making them dry enough to suit all Hawkes.

Yeah i mean i feel the same TJpags. Then again i guess if you want to look at it a different way not knowing what you are going to say might actually be kinda interesting.

Ok cool. I actually like that more than if they made it accumulate sarcasm points. If i made my guy really sarcastic at the beginning but decided later on that he was going to become nicer i want to be able to do that easily.
