I just finished playing the expansion. I transferred my character from DAO. She was a Human Noble, and had become queen with Alistair at his side. The ending to Awakening said that she went back to the court as queen....then just randomly ran away. Wth? So she just runs away for no apparent reason...how is that a sense of closer?!

My question regarding this is: How does the Witch download with Morrigan play into this? I'm trying to make sense of my character's continuing story. Would it make sense if I played the Witch download?

If there are other people who played and had the same scenario, can you tell me how you dealt with it, or how it made sense to you?

Thank you in advanced. =]

Here's my theory; it may not apply to YOU, however. My HNF was in a political marriage with Alistair and Zevran was in love with her. So she got his letter from Antiva, and while she didn't get the Zevran slide (she got the queen slides of course), she obviously disappeared to find him in Antiva because he was gone way too long.

So no Morrigan or mirror involved. She just realized she had a short enough time left that she had to quit that queen stuff and go after her true love!

so yeh... my guess is your story is slightly different.

Me. I just pretend that she vanished because she found something that could possibly remove the taint so she and Ali could have babies. Fangirl fluff but hey.

I have ideas about my HNF's disappearance for a future FF. But I was rather annoyed by the disappearance thing since the marriage for my Cousland was a love match. It'd have to be something incredibly huge to make her leave Alistair again.

And something like the Architect wouldn't be enough, that's why she made Nate her replacement. He's eminently capable and probably far better at the Commander thing.

WH does have some to do with it as you leave with just Dog to go in search of Morrigan(don't wanna spoil anything that happens later so thats all im gonna say)

I spoiled it for myself and read all the epilogues in Awakening...I had originally made this char (HNF) to marry Alistair at the end since I usually play as elves. After I saw the epilogue slide you mentioned, I went back, reloaded from Landsmeet, made Anora sole queen and then rebuilt the Grey Wardens with Alistair.

Then I started an Orlesian warden for Awakenings xD I'd prefer my character to have a somewhat happy ending, at least!

macalkins - Yeah, but after WH, if you're playing a Queen Cousland, its obvious that you return from that. And supposedly it takes place a year after Origins.

two and a half years, actually.  they changed the product description page.  if you mouse over amaranthine or the keep (depends on which you save i think) it tells you it's been two years since the mother died and if you mouse over denerim it says it's been years since the archdemon died.  so the map is still a bit inconsistent, but it's a bit better.

Edit; the main problem is I can't see my Queenie Cousland being in Ferelden for that long after the mother died.  Maybe she had to travel back from Antiva.  It could be why she doesn't see Alistair.

Wow thanks guys. This has given me some food for thought. I'll probably end of leaving my character in DAO and then make a new character. Running away just doesn't seem ... right. I wanted a happy ending.

"So much for my happy ending." .....<_<;

ejoslin - Okay, thanks. It's just that for a long time it seemed like the devs were saying it was just one year, which didn't make sense.

Still, mine would have returned shortly after, and it wouldn't have been just up and poof in the first place, she would've let people know where she was going. Not necessarily why.

Ah, not everyone gets the 'warden disappeared' slide.  If you end the game not married to royalty and in a relationship with either Leliana or Zevran, there's more of an explanation.  the warden is spotted in Denerim with Leliana, and rumors state the warden ran off to Antiva, chasing after Zevran.

WH really was an ending for wardens who romanced Morrigan.  Everyone else?  No.  If your warden disappeared, there is no explanation (and probably never will be).

True enough. I was a little confused that the wardens that didn't marry Alistair didn't disappear totally, while the ones who did just went poof. Or if you didn't romance Alistair at all and didn't marry him you got something.

I think most wardens disappear -- it's just that the ones who marry Alistair disappear alone and the ones who romanced him and didn't marry him, they disappear together. Only the ones who have romanced Zevran or Leliana (and now, perhaps Morrigan) have a bit of an explanation. but of course, with Zevran and Leliana, those slides are based on rumors, nothing concrete, so who knows.

I assumed she disappears so as to be conveniently absent when (if?) Hawke shows up in Ferelden.

From what i read on the wiki there is a bug with Morrigan's awakening epilogue, if you got the ring epilogue in origins then you wont get the Morrigan ending in awakening even if you state at origins end that youre gonna search for her.

It dont have much effect though since i got the bug but was still able to go through the portal with her in witch hunt.
