I'm playing Throne of Bhaal and have reached the point where I am hunting down the two separate Bhaalspawns near the desert. The rest weren't an issue and I've already done Sendai, but I'm really at a loss as to what do against this guy once he turns into a dragon. In fact, I don't even do damage. None of my spells work, if I can even get them off. It feels impossible, and nothing else has come even close to being this ridiculous. At least I could hurt Sarevok in Baldur's Gate, and got him within 25 tries. I haven't even figured out how to hurt Draconis in his dragon form.
It would seriously suck for me to have put over a hundred hours into the Baldur's Gate series just to give up because of a ridiculous fight near the end. Please help!
What do you do to take down Draconis?

Have you tried casting Breach at him? Usually when you're not doing damage, it's because the enemy is running stoneskins (or Protection from Magical Weapons or something like that).

Yeah, a hopeless dragon battle often means he's got a lot of defensive spells active, and also, you need to lower his spell resistance with several castings of a spell like Lower Resistance, after which you will be able to hurt him with magic.
Make sure your whole party is protected with Remove Fear so they don't succumb to Dragon Fear.

I have pierce magic and breach aplenty, but I still get dominated like nothing else. And most of the time those are wasted. He just goes invisible and and my spells fail.

Draconis combines Stoneskins, Pro from Magic Weapons, and Inviso making it very hard to hurt him with melee or target him with spells. He also renews his defenses very quickly. You need multiple true sights running, imp haste, and a combo of normal and enchanted weapons on your best warriors to melee him. Celestial summons will help immensely.
This is one of the toughest fights in the game. Good luck!

Nah, there are ways to cast Breach etc quick enough to get through his renewing Improved Invisibility. A mage with Vecna, AoP and IA can take him down in one round (and without any buffs).
If you don't have Vecna and AoP I suggest you try imploying the various Spell Triggers / Contingencies at your disposal, since he'll have no way of interrupting your spell casting by going invisible against those.
Lastly there are even some wands with Breach function and you can aim those even at only partially visible creatures.

Is there a way to not be knocked away by wing buffet aside from spreading out the party (say by saving a throw or being resistant to magic or something)? This may or may not be relevant, but that was almost always the main problem I had when fighting any dragon. Once I could get next to them, I could usually damage the dragon.

Another option, if you want to be really cheesy, you can lay some spike traps and lure him into them once he transforms into a dragon.

Lower his spell resistance a few times and then use Power Word: Blind.

Prepare a Spell Trigger with 3x Lower Resistance + one Contingency with Breach. When both are flying towards the dragon create a new Chain Contingency with 3x Horrid Wilting.
This can easily reduce the battle to a few seconds.

On my first playthrough I casted labyrinth on his dragon form, then I used every trap + few summons + everything else.
Traps are totally overpowered so it's like cheating

I finally got around to playing again. I had been a bit demoralized after those hideous defeats the first time I encountered him.
Humanoid_Taifun's Contingency and Trigger advice worked so perfectly and trivially I can hardly believe it. He lived for all but 10 seconds in his dragon form and I didn't take any damage. Thanks a ton.
