So, I've heard that this game supposedly has consequences to your actions, but I feel I missed out on them.

I helped a Blood Mage escape from the tower of Magi.  This I consider one of the nicer things I did.  It got me made a Grey Warden.
I bullied peasants for Morrigan's favor.  Those people died to Darkspawn and nobody cared.  But I did get to sleep with Morrigan that very night.
I helped a demon or spirit or something possess a little girl.  The world moved on.
I encouraged a Blood Mage Warden to continue his research to bring me power.  Not a peep against me.
I killed a Smithy for being uncooperative and looted his house of remaining armor.  Even his own daughter didn't care.
I sacrificed a future Ally's wife so that I could make a deal with a demon that would return to possess their son.  The wife gets only passing reference and the boy "disappears" before my secret could be found out.  Alistair ****es about the wife, but gets over it.
I slaughter a town and religious leaders of a cult of Dragon worshippers, who turn around to proclaim me their hero for destroying a sacred relic.  Lelliana asks about the relic, I lie, she believes me and actually likes me more now.
I kill Wynne just to make Morrigan happy.  She is unmourned.
I try to make a deal with the Maleficar that has taken over the Tower of Magi.  I'm not even sure anyone was bothering to pay attention.
I think I did some vaguely heroic things for the Elves, but let's just ignore that.
I support the Dwarven ruler who sounds like he'll be the biggest tyrant, simply because I think tyrants are awesome.  He becomes a great ruler.
I decide I want the power of the anvil all for myself!  MUAHAHA, fudge, Shale hates me and attacks.  Wait, an actual consequence?  The first and only one I ever encounter.  But since I like Shale I reload to avoid it.
I sacrifice a bunch of captive elves for a single lousy Constitution point.  Zevran hates it, but he gets over it.

And in the end?
I become the true power behind the throne.  Lelliana joins a group seeking the Sacred Relic I destroyed and lied about.  (good luck with that).  Zevran joins my character on his journies to seek Morrigan.  And everyone's happy.  Except Wynne and Loghaine, who are dead, but I don't care.  I don't even know what happened to Anora.

Sure, I wasn't the biggest jerkass, but I wasn't exactly nice.  I let demons and spirits house themselves in children.  I encouraged death for power.  I murdered for the attentions of a saucy minx.

Comuppance?  Moi?  Don't even think about it.  I think I got scolded for it once on the Arlessa's death.  By the same guy who lets me rule Feralden.  Everyone still thinks my character is a hero.

The question at the end of all this is, what consequence was there for any of these actions?  I actually expected one for what was done to Conner.  But he simply disappears.  And when Lelliana said she was going to seek out the Urn of Ashes, I thought "holy crap, I better get out of here FAST."  But they never even find it, let alone find out what I did to it.  And the Mages recover despite me killing half the survivors for a little nooky.

Yeah, there's not really much consequence to this game. Not like they'd advertised. I was expecting every big decision I made to have noticeable effects SOMEWHERE. But really, it all means nothing.

Sure, it might change a few things when everything's said and done... but it has little impact on me.

I can save the arl's family, or screw them over... he'll still side with me.

I can smash the relic... expecting there to be huge fallout from it... people trying to kill me, religious zealots hounding my heels as I travel the land... the Maker smoting me with lightning... SOMETHING... but no... one party member who actually cares (and will attack you on the spot if she's with you... or can easily be lied to otherwise)...

LAME!

I hope they do a hell of a lot better in the next one.

Haha, I just made a similar thread to this. I was wondering if there is some kind of underlying Alignment for your PC that the game keeps track of and changes things. Doesn't seem to be the case. I played a character all the way up to landsmeet acting as if I had the fear of the maker in me.

Getting all the blessings. Refusing payment. Donating to beggars and avoiding all possible bloodshed unless it was in the name of all that is good and righteous. I've also played through to the landsmeet as I was the archdemon himself. I even fed little Connor to the demon in exchange for some demon loving. I've seen hardly any difference in these two play throughs up to the landsmeet other than my "evil" character is slightly richer...

Well, karma did sorta bite you in the arse pretty badly, you got made a grey warden, which is basically a death sentence, even if you survive the darkspawn and end the blight...

It's a death sentence in 30 years, and your character is an adult. So essentially, you get the life span of your average dark age person.

I know another Grey Warden Blood Mage who has extended his life indefinitely.  And I made him work for me.

I'm good for a while.

Well a few things can happen with the companions for instance Alistair leaves if you spare Loghain Loghain obviously dies if you dont take him :D Both Leilana and Wynne attack you if they are with you when you destroy the Urn. Shale will leave if shes with you and you side with Branka will also leave if shes not in the party and asks about it and you cant lie good enough to her. Zevran will join the assassins in Denerim if he doesn't like you if he really likes you he'll join on your side if hes somewhere in between he'll leave but still stay in the party. If you have Sten with you when you do the Urn of Sacred ashes quest and your a bit to lippy about destroying the archdemon he'll challenge you for command of the group and if you win he will want to leave. Morrigan and Ogrehen are both easy to get approval with and fast to lose with.

Also if you pickpocket and get caught in Denerim you'll get attacked by guards while traveling around the city. I have to agree that there are not alot of consequences in the game which the trailers led me to belive more. The biggest thing i know of is which side you chose so you'll get diffrent armies at the end for example dalish or werewolves. You can as well change Leilana and Alistairs personalitys depending on how you talk to them during their personal quest and after.

So there are a few things that affects the game some minor some major mostly life goes on :D

Yeah, not a whole lot of consequences sadly. If the game had managed to keep up the same quality as it had at the Landsmeet (I reloaded one save plenty of times just to see how it would turn out), it would've been great. A lot of things just went unnoticed or smooth, though.

BIG SPOILER HOI OI OI

____

I really liked that either Loghain dies, or Alistair leaves. I so wanted to have both of them in my party but I had to choose. More of that, please.

There are problems with the PC's reactions at times. Take this for instance.

I was nothing but nice to Leliana. She fell in love with me and I never once did something she didn't approve of. When I get to the urn, I destroy it because I want to unlock the Reaver (it wasn't my official choice, I was just doing it for fun and the achievement). Leliana suddenly calls me a fiend without even asking why I did it. The only way I can placate her is to intimidate her into backing down from the fight, but she says she will never forgive me.

I go back to camp, give her some flowers, and boom, she's right back to loving me and saying "Aren't you sweet and attentive?" Seems she forgave me pretty quick, although Wynne left.

It didn't make any sense, but it's a small complaint.

I thought the consequences were the slides shown at the very end of the game. Plus, how is the world supposed to know you destroyed the sacred urn and made deals with demons? I do think the gift giving was pretty dumb, or should at least have just been left to important gifts as I could be a terrible person in front of Leliana but just bribe her with flowers back into loving me.

Don't get me wrong, i would have liked more in game consequences too though. Allistair vs. loghain was tough cause I thought alistair was being dumb
