My first run-through was a Queen Cousland and it was okay but I almost didn't bother replaying the game. Eventually, I decided to try another origin but since I am not overly fond of rags-to-riches I decided to try playing a DN and, well, the rest is history.

The reason I really can't get behind the whole 'Harrowmont is the obvious good guy' philosophy so many people are espousing is because in my first game that wasn't quite how it went. I arrived in Orzammar completely unspoiled for once (I did spoil myself about virtually every other part of the game) and quickly became horrified at Dust Town. I inferred from what both Harrowmont AND Bhelen's criers had to say (and if they're agreeing with each other on something there's a good chance it's true) that Bhelen was less in support of the caste system. I felt horrible because Harrowmont seemed like a nice guy and Bhelen seemed like the kind of guy that would kill him - called it - but I felt that the
obvious good guy choice would be to side against the mindless perpetuation of the system that encourages murdering babies and makes it perfectly legal to do whatever you want to a casteless because they don't exist.
