My PC can play Mass Effect 2 at full resolution with all settings maxed and I've never noticed low FPS. However, when I try to do the same in Mass Effect 1 I seems to run into chopiness and low FPS. The screen kind of jerks around when walking on to and off of stairs. The arrow during the hacking mini game sometimes moves in a jerky, uneven manner, when the MAKO is dropped on to a planet there is some chopiness involved, etc... I'mn not sure why this is the case given that my computer can run far more demanding games without issue.
Rig is as follows-
CPU: Intel i5-750
RAM: 4 GB Ripjaws
Videocard: ATI 5850 Radeon
Motherboard: Biostar TPower X58
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Any help with this issue would really be appreciated.
Thanks alot.

I had the same problem which escalated to really frustrating levels with the Mako's trench run on Ilios: things appeared so slow that it seemed impossible to reach the destined target within the time given. But when I upgraded my video drivers and set the more demanding 3D settings of my graphics card (via the control panel) to apply for this particular game instead of globally, virtually all problems of that sort vanished. This was with an NVidia card on Windows XP, however.
