So I started a new campaign for the first time in years. Like, it's been long enough since I played through that I think my old save files are long gone due to hard drive crashes and overzealous cleanup.

And as I play entirely for funsies, I do occasionally hack my character to add goodies with the NWN2 character editor.

I managed to completely bork my save files tonight, by accidentally overwriting the wrong one because the editor had been left open while I continued playing... and thus... the situation is this:

During the 2 hours or so while I continued playing, I finished Act I. Then I overwrote just my main character file. Now... the game is in limbo between Act I and Act II... So the journal says to go talk to Bishop about Shandra... but Shandra is already in my party. The next thing I was supposed to do is go talk to Sir Whatsisname about becoming his squire, but he's nowhere to be found.

In other words, it's borked. I like my character, and would be fine just starting Act II with her as is, if there's some way to poke the game into getting in line with the situation as-it-is.

I'm playing a neutral-good druid, she's level 11, if that matters. Going the city watch route. Mostly I just want to get the game back so that I can *play* it. The autosave is no good, because it overwrote before I realized there was a problem.

I've played through the game with three or four characters so far, so it's not like I don't know how it goes.... this was just going to be like rereading a favorite book, you know?

I'm quite good at following directions and could edit a text file or save file if I had something to compare it to, but I'm no programmer. I just dont' know where to start.

Well there is using some console commands but I don't know what they are sadly *digs around google*

This should only be used after you defeat Zeeaire and the conversation with Shandra didn't take you to Act 2.

It didn't do the trick. Got me to act II, but the journal and quests were still borked.
