Kind of on topic...

I want to see party members form relationships with each other if you so choose to not to pursue one with those party members...

THEN I want the option to dump your current love interest, and be given the option to pursue a relationship with that party member you originally ignored...screwing up their current relationship in the process.

A demented jester type of companion, cracking bad puns whilst cracking heads?

Oh, I'd be all over that.

Is it just me or are all of the threads on this forum about romances? DA: II might not even have romances. Even if it does, it will be a small part of the overall game. Why does it matter which pixels your pixels can awkwardly grope in their undies?

I dunno why do any pixels matter?!  There is no spoon.

And I might sell all my worldly good tomorrow, shave my head, and live the rest of my life as a celibate cenobite in the Mojave desert.

It's a good starting point for collective bull****ting. It doesn't make sense to me to deliberately pass up a great opportunity for bul****ting, so I personally approve any romance thread as long as it provides me a legitimate chance of bull****ting.

I try not to bull**** in a condescending manner when I do it, however.

Oh, Maria. +10.

Also, I had to google Mojave desert. Thank you for making me feel horribly illiterate.

Why approve her and why look up Mojave afterwards? Highly suspicious.

I mean, she says cenobite, not in solitude.

If it makes you feel better, I wouldn't have been able to tell you the location of the Mojave until I moved here.

I know ancient Greek. :wizard: But Mojave? Gah. Judging from the name, I coulda sworn it was in Portugal or something.

I know ancient Greek.

So your intention is purely academic?

Riiiiight.

Tut tut, those of you who don't know where the Mojave desert is haven't been following space tourism very closely. It's where spaceport America is being built. Well, where they say it's going to be built. It's not quite the Mojave desert. Also clearly you've not been playing Fallout: New Vegas. I am dissappointed in you all! :P

More on topic, I think Bioware has done away with the concept of Good and Evil. Even the Paragon Renegade bars in ME are not exactly black and white morrality based. They are more "Impatient bastard" and "good natured knight". Bioware is more interested in the human condition than forcing morality on their audience.

Morrigan was not evil. She was just very, very practical and cynical.

She was ''practical'' to the point of being evil. I guess sacrificing innocent Elven slaves in some blood ritual to augment your health is extremely practical. *breathe in* I guess killing a mage who is protecting children with a magical barrier just because you don't like to have a preachy Circle of Magi character in the party who might take offense to a wandering apostate is very practical.

It's not the same as pure giddy malevolence, no, but being egocentric to the extreme at the expense of others sure counts as evil in MY book.

Then again, being in love with yourself and only being interested in your own advancement is practically a virtue for some people nowadays. I happen to hate those people even more than I hate hardcore religious nuts who want to convince you there is a magical man in the sky. So there.

You know I wouldn't mind a darker LI with a brain that doesn't swoon at Hawke's feet and turn into a goody goody just because Hawke is a goody goody.

Well Morrigan was a pretty nice "evil" romance. I almost like her as much as Viconia.

This. I want a Reaver companion! :P

I think that it would be interesting to see an 'evil' LI that you didn't have to be 'good' when romancing them, Morrigan's romance is hardly one of two diabolical people and is quite heartfelt. It's a difficult one to get right though, and I'm sure everyone has a different idea of how evil such a character should be.

After Fable III, I most certainly wouldn't want a Reaver companion.

Also, I'd like, for once, to see a character where "evil" does not equate "horndog". It's not that it doesn't make sense, it's that I'm sick of seeing it. They don't need to be celibate, but they also don't need to be sleazy, either.

I also think it's hard to make a truly "evil" character that isn't either tragic or stupid.

After Fable III I most certainly do want a Reaver-style companion. Voiced by Stephen Fry even! Short of the disappointingly underdeveloped Masked Ball level he was one of the best bits of the game. And I've seen plenty of "evil" character who are not 'horndogs', guess you've just been unlucky! I do agree though, an evil character doesn't neccesarily have to be a sleazy, or even sexual, being - I just don't think they are always portrayed as such. In fact it's always seemed to me that more often than not it's the lackey or scoundrel characters who are sleazy in most cases.

A cheeky, unabashedly nefarious companion who my equally dastardly Hawke could have a lighthearted relationship with would be along the lines of what I'd be interested in seeing. Throwing intelligence into the mix would work too, I could take or leave 'hornyness' of any degree.

Eh. Stephen Fry used to be one of my heroes, but when I actually did some internet research on him, I found out that he's a gigantic jerk. In many, many ways. I ignored it at first, because I loved A Bit of Fry & Laurie, but...oh well.

Reaver just went too far, to me. He didn't get any comeuppance, it seemed, because Lionhead really loved him. From a story perspective, he was too dangerous to keep alive. If I was allowed to kill him, I'm sure I wouldn't have disliked him so much.

And I was speaking in terms of romantic interests in video games. Yeah--plenty of evil characters don't have a lusty bone in their body. But when they're romantic interests, they always seem to.

I'm not sure if a truly evil character would make a good love interest...
