Does annyone know if there is a fix for this? I have tried disabling moives and playing in window and downloading that .dll fix. I have tried patching and even using a no-cd crack. I'm just about to start crying

KotOR is an OpenGL game, not Direct3D, and Radeons are Direct3D oriented, not OpenGL. The last ATI Radeons that more or less worked right out of the box in the game were the X1n00 cards, such as the X1800, X1900, and the X1950s, and not with the more recent video drivers, but with the drivers current back when those cards were still brand new.

Don't forget, this game is over seven years old now, which is quite old when PC hardware is being discussed.

Incidentally, most of the information about KotOR is now effectively out of reach.  The archives of the old Legacy forum at Bioware have never been properly "Archived" to make the contents accessible, although I suppose that a site redirection criteria could be added at Google / Yahoo / Bing.

I have the same problem as well, however the game DID Boot up and play upon install, BUT after saving and exiting, it will not start back up..it played beautifully when it was working. I have the D2D version, if that makes any difference

Read the answer above your own comment.  There has been no change.  If you have a Radeon graphics device, you have to visit Rage 3D and see what the ATI Gurus there have to say.  It's an old game that wants matching old Radeons, or else Geforces, but will run on some newer models of those.

For the people who got KOTOR 1 from D2D (direct2download)...

If you see a black screen on the SECOND time you play, it is not your video driver acting up.  The game's CD check is bugged.  You have to get the v1.3 noCD patch to get the game working again.
