I wasn't impying metagaming, here. More like "Character X would have been a big help if he/she were here right now. Boy, I wish I could've saved him/her." Take Wrex, for example: his death is a consequence of you failing to calm him down, like you said with the SM deaths (your character doesn't "choose" to kill Wrex). Now, in ME2, Wrex is being set up as an important ally and a major player in krogan politics (or the krogan excuse for politics). Without Wrex, it's implied that it'll be a lot harder to get the krogans as a unified force on your side.I'm all for the consequences for the BIG CHOICES. See my signature. But having Garrus dead in the "suicide mission" is not a choice. It's a consequence. Of sending him in the pipes, or not upgrading ship's guns, or having a bad biotic bubbler... Don't mix Shepard's choices with the metagamed "choices" the real you makes after reading the Ultimate Guide.
So I guess it's less of a matter of "big choices" and more of a matter of "snowballing consequences." As in losing a crewmember actually meant you'd be short a crewmember. For realz.
Bolded that because you just straw-manned me, dude. I don't like being straw-manned. :cAs for my metagamed "choices", since you are so interested, I killed off characters for many different reasons. But yeah, with Garrus, you've scored a bull's eye. The ultimate reason why I eventually decided to have him killed was to not have him in ME3 in any capacity, since sure it would include more calibrations, if only in a form of some silly joke. I'm sure ME3 will be cornballish enough even without re-recycled characters. Note that I disposed of Garrus the last, only on my fourth playthrough, and since then I have reversed one decision have another character killed. Go on now with explaining to me that my major malfunction is that I hate ME2 characters on principle.
Personally, I love it when Bioware makes fun of itself. The omnigel/Mako references in LotSB killed me. But to each their own, I suppose. Although it's doubtful that the dreaded calibrations will return in anything more than a quick, one-time joke (a la elevators), so I'm honestly not worried about it.
And I really think you covered your personal issue with the cast of ME2 all by yourself. You know, "whiny fashion show contestants?" "Cornballish" and "re-recycled?" No offense, bro.
I think I just admitted in my last post how much I hated the fact that my data will be horribly biased (over 50% of people recruited Kasumi? Kind of obvious right off the bat that those numbers aren't right), but I simply don't have access to the general audience. However, I can still provide a picture of player statistics on this forum, which some people may find interesting. Also, I very much adore science,
butand an attempt like this one to gather data about the general audience on a fan-ridden forum seems rather anti-scientific to me.
In short, I'm doing the best I can with what I have available. It sucks, but it'll at least point me in the right direction.
You combative tone makes me sad as well :c
Thanks. I was starting to worry that this discussion would derail the thread and it'd get an off-topic lock, and I don't want to turn into a jerk again like I did in your thread. Sorry about all that. Also, I'm officially done with the ME3 squad discussions until ME3 comes out and I'll be able to say either "haha, I told you so" or "all right I was an idiot". However, as of now [one last time here] I am sure it will be "I told you so".
ANYWAY KIDS gonna plug in these last few posts and we'll finally see what we've got! Thanks to everyone again; some really interesting numbers came out of this!

Wrong. Unlike the ME2 fatalities (which result from hostile fire, happens in war, no way around), Wrex's death is Shepard's choice. He either dies by Shepard's own hand, or by Ashley's hand when Shepard gives her the sign (yes, I know she can shoot him on her own, but that makes no difference actually). Or he dies (apparently) off screen, if not recruited. However, as this "united force" stuff is totally a fan-made assumption, with less base than for example my "Cerberus IS part of the Alliance" theory, I don't expect Wrex's fate to make much more impact to the main story in ME3 than Conrad Verner's fate. In ME2 Wrex's fate had zero impact to the main story. Even the wildlife preserve called Tuchanka was exactly the same in both Wrex's and Wreav's versions of the universe, only the blah-blah-talkie was different.

4) Everyone was loyal.
5) I got all of my teammates through the suicide mission alive. (But have my crew didn't make it).

EDIT: Forgot to add -- don't make silly choices on the special roles during the mission.
