Overall it's a tie between Anora and Morrigan
Party member is definitely Morrigan.
Those two characters are completely flawless.
Who is your favorite character? :)

It's a tie between dog and Shale for me.
Dog is the closest, lovable thing to Chewbacca in this game, and Shale reminds me of HK-47 from The Old Republic. I keep expecting to hear a "meatbag" response somewhere...

Whilst Alistair and Morrigan have good Voice actors, my vote for favourite has to go to Leliana. Some of her conversation pieces just resonate and force me to make the character a better person. In my first playthrough my human noble was becoming hardened and cynical, using 'neccesity' as an excuse for excess. Leliana's talks turned him back to being a decent guy, I couldn't do anything else.

This. Important in combat. Even more important between combat.

Wynne, she's got to be the coolest senior citizen in the game. I love her wise ways and I love how they argue with Alistair, even Sten!

Top three are Shale, Alistair and Loghain.
Honourable mentions to Branka and Zevran. And Sten. And Dog. And Jowan. And Niall. And Isabelle. And Anora. Okay, you get the picture.

Morrigan is up there too for how well she's portrayed.
Oh and Sandal just rocks!

I like how Sandal shouts "ENCHANTMENT!". It just seems really cute. My favourite would be Alistair (Funniest game character I have ever encountered. Especially when I tease him about how he really likes Morrigan.). My second would be that Mage's Collective guy in Denerim. (Don't ask.) My third would be... oh... I can't choose. Their all so great. They feel like a family. No kidding. When you think about it, I wish I was the PC because they seem to be great people. Imagine them in a household together. Wynne reading in a rocking chair in a corner. Sten having a roaring contest with Dog. Shale outside killing birds. Alistair and Morrigan fighting over the remote. Leliana praying by the altar. Oghren having a drinking contest with Zevran... *sigh* what a life...

I <3 Morrigan
Sten and his one-liners is a close second
Alistair a.k.a. "the royal bastard" is at the bottom of my list with his whiny ways. It's funny listening him and Morri going at each other though:D

1) Morrigan
2) Alistair
3) Leliana
4) all others
BTW: I have a localized version, but would love to listen to the original voices, too. Is there a way to get the original voice-files?

Alistair and Morrigan take the lead by a fair margin for me. Both the best written and voiced characters in the game.

This is really a tough choice. I like them all, even the foppish Zevran (albeit begrudgingly). Bioware did a great job at making each companion really different and fitting many character types. It's great because I never felt like I "had" to take so-and-so along as a healer, or as a tank or for lockpicking and lose the realism of my PC's choice.
Companions:
Alistair: I thought he'd be too smarmy, too snarky at first but he turned out pretty cool, a nice balance between being earnest and cracking jokes. (A+)
Dog: I love animals, I loved this character. His interactions with party members really made some bright points shine in the game for me. (A+)
Leliana: I feared her religious devotion would be too much. Overly religious people get on my nerves in real life when they witness to me. But I really liked her story and the character interactions some of my PCs had with her. A great contradiction with her past too and present goals. (A)
Morrigan: I didn't think I'd like her. Part of that was the E3 footage released this last year which was largely out of context. But I think she's one of the strongest character concepts in this game, or any other game Bioware has produced. It's very touching to see how unused to emotions she is when you hit the right points in dialogue options for personal topics. (A+)
Oghren: A cool character, a bit of a stereotypical dwarf but hey, everyone loves a drunken dwarf warrior with an axe on their side. (B+)
Shale: A wisecracking golem sounded like a gimick, so I was skeptical but Shale rocks! (yes, I know that was terrible) Shale's story was very down to earth (okay I'll stop), amusing and educational. (A)
Sten: I was really looking forward to meeting Sten with my characters, to learn more about the Qunari and to see how is unique personality would bounce off my character concepts. He didn't disappoint, plus figuring out his perspectives on life and why he was imprisoned was rather fun. (A)
Wynne: I thought she'd be cool, she was exactly what I expected but the character didn't suprise me much. For that I'll give her a good but not excellent mark. (B+)
Zevran: He was hyped so much on the old forums I used to not even care to pick him for any party. But he's not too bad. I largely have a thing against egotistical people, his over-confidence is grating at times but some of his comments make up for it in equal measure. (B-)
Other NPCs:
Bann Teagan: His dance in the castle is freakin' hilarious so he gets cool points. It would only be better if performed by Christopher Walken.
Sandal: Enchantment? Enchantment! Very cool little guy with minimal dialogue but somehow he has alot of charisma, I hope he finds his way into DA2.
Loghain: A very interesting, brooding, unhappy character. I liked him.

Sten, he's the greatest character in your party and he knows it(the Dog is also a close second). Other than that.
Keeper Zathrian- He was probably my favourite non-party member npc
Knight-Commander Greagoir- All templars should be like him
Loghain- He was interesting and he's voiced by Simon Templemen
Howe- He was good at what he was created to do

Zevran. *sigh*
That was so cute when he called my mage "bellissimo"
Other than Zev, I like Sten, Bann Teagan, Jowan, Tamlen, Loghain, Anora and Zathrian. Yeah, I'm weird.
