I really like Leliana. She's sweet and I like her romance storyline but she also believes in her morals and sticks to them. Her stories are neat too I think, the vivid but believable contrast between Ferelden and Orlais makes the game world seem much LESS generic and strengthens the writers' efforts to create something that's unique and familiar at the same time.
Alistair is a really nicely developed character too. He is probably the most convincing if I had to choose which character seemed most like a real person that you might meet.
Loghain grew on me after a while, especially on my third playthrough. The plot twist that you can choose really fleshes out his character more and lets him explain why he did the things he did. He seems really one-dimensional until then, but that's realistic since you don't really get to interact with him until the aforementioned plot twist. He's kind of a cross between a villain and a tragic hero.
Anora intrigues me. I wish we knew more about her because she seems like the "good" side of Loghain--a schemer and a strategist, but in contrast to Loghain someone that isn't quite willing to shamelessly use any and all means to achieve her ends. She knows how to do the right thing more so than Loghain, enough so that I felt OK with trusting her on the big question at the end.
I found shale rather annoying--reminds me too much of the stereotypical sci-fi robot always making fun of the humans. It gets old fast for me, anyway. Just my 2 cents.
I liked the Redcliffe people too--Teagan, Eamon, Murdock, etc. It was a pretty nice touch how you get to talk to one of Eamon's bodyguards near the end. And the ingame scene of the Redcliffe soldiers on both sides of you as you go off to fight the darkspawn at the end was one of my fave moments in the game.
I played human noble first so I really hated howe--I pretty much went through my first playthrough chomping at the bit to get my revenge. But his character isn't quite as fleshed out for the other origins and you really don't get a sense of who he is other than indirectly through his bloody dungeons.

Ah, I love the hermit too.
And oh do I hate Jowan, his mere voice makes me want to smash things. I really enjoyed playing an evil character after tollerating him for so long on other characters!
Murdock in Redcliffe made me laugh, his voice actor messes up during the dialogue at times. His gravely voice turns uncharacteristicly smooth at times for a few dialogue strings.

my favorite characters are:
The dalish keeper (I think he's the vulcan guy in Star Trek Voyager: simply love this guy)
Flemeth (STV ftw)
Alister (really nicely done)
and the list goes on quite a bit. But srsly don't want to put more in case it is spoiler

In no particular order, Morrigan, Alistair, Orghen or however the hell was the dwarf's name spelled. Morrigan's 'banter' lines with the dog were probably my favourite moments in the game though.

Bit early to me to vote anyone, but currently Leliana is the most sympathical character. Alistair is second, though I dont really like his "I'm stupid and witty" character concept; otherwise he's okayish.
Wynne is already no longer in the "like" category. She's trying to be some kind of Yoda, but she really only tells you insanely dumb things. Its an evil walkthrough and I'm going to get Blood Magic and will therefore lose her anyway, though.
Morrigan is worse, and the way she jumped at my character in the romance was unnerving. Sten is already pure annoyance. The dog ... well, its a dog. I have no idea why I should ever take it with me; you cant equip it much gear, dialogues are stupid, etc.
I only just got Zevran and I havent reached Ohgren yet. I havent downloaded Shale and never will, and I will pass on the secret companion as well.
About non-party NPCs, well one doesnt have that much contact with them. But I loved my sister in the Dwarven Commoner origin, and I liked quite a lot of people in the City Elf Origin. Uh, I guess I like the underdogs.
I really couldnt stand Duncan. Cant explain without spoilers, so meh.
P.s. : why does this "&()/Z"!!! website screw up my formatting this awfully ?

Same here.
I'll have to agree with the love for Morrigan, though I'm quite partial to Leliana and Shale as well.

Shianni or maybe Bann Teagan. Runner up would be Arl Eaoman- the guy doesn't even give a second thought about what you *may or may not have done* to his family.

Flemeth is pretty much on the top of my list... this woman is such a mystery, this ancient being, not wholly human anymore, corrupted by her past and her immortality... she is simply intriguing and very well written. And Kate Mulgrew's voice fits her perfectly.
First Enchanter Irving - though as brief as his screentime may be - strikes me as a very awesome character... I like that while talking with him I always had the impression of a smirk under the beard, as if he already planned four steps ahead of your actions...
Plus I love the voiceacting
I also really like Shianni... she's a good sports, at least it seems to be this way...
Hm... Zevran and Morrigan are very far on the top of the list as well.

Morrigan. Bioware writes a great game so I am sure all the characters have their charms. However, I'm on my first play through, and I don't rotate party members ,so in my limited experience I enjoy Morrigan the most compared to Alistair and my faithful dog Maximus.

I think the Hermit and Bann Teagan should have a dance-off. Sandal could probably join and do the robot or something. If Sandal showed up and did that, he'd clearly win. Shale would breakdance I would imagine. Morrigan would likely be the most boring dancer, claiming it was "frivolous" and if you danced with her she'd slad your character's hand, saying "why all the touching!?" I think Alistair would dance disco, decked out in a Saturday Night Fever get-up (Or maybe Sten as a Saturday Night Reaver?).

I really like Leliana's accent when she says "Am I the sister? Aw... that's so cute. It's like you're my big brother, or sister... or whatever." Rawr.
I like the poet treepun character most though, hehe. Finally a demon who'll have a friendly chat with me!
I like the poet tree
