I like Alistair cause he has the same humor and hairstyle as my husband (although he won't admit it) I like Morrigan cause I can relate to her views on life and love at times, and Leliana just reminds me of that one friend that's borderline annoying and endearing at the same time. :-p

Warden, my Mabari War Dog. His acting in the camp reminds me of my dog.

Orgen and Shade are my second favorite.

Morrigan and Zevan are third.

Easily Zevran: there is that wonderful moment in the Dalish camp where your female Warden seduces Cammen, then goes and brags about it to his girlfriend Gheyna.

Cue confrontation with Gheyna punching Cammen, who protests "But I did it for you!" which prompts Zevran to sigh "Now why did I never think of that?"

Easily the funniest one liner any character has come out with the entire game.

Oh and an honourable mention for Loghain - his story arc follows his rise, fall and redemption as a hero of Ferelden. You can disagree with him, but as he says himself, no one is able to stand over and judge him given he set Ferelden free and sacrificed so much to do so - his father, his men, his love.

Plus redeeming Loghain is the final step in reducing Alistair to a broken wreak of a human being, so its all good.

Zevran - he's been part of every party because his dialogue is just so great. Loads of LOL moments with him around. Besides, who can resist a handsome Elf?

Second favourite - secret companion. I love the way the writers created these two complex characters and how getting to know them makes them very different to the first impressions.

Leliana followed by Alistair.

I'm thinking Mhairi is going to take the top spot though from what little I've seen of her thus far.

Alistair, without a doubt. When they have the 'I can't imagine doing this without you' conversation, my character really means it. The whole thing would be much less fun without Alistair's humor and charm.

Hmm well I have to say that a hard question, for me all of them. As a lover and battle partner Alistair is my top favorite, for zany and delicously flirty fun and one who speaks the truth about everything, Zevran, for drunken ramblings and awful pickup lines, Oghren, for practical no nonsense advice and talk, Morrigan, for cynical and sarcastic humor and being called It, Shale, for the realistic but grandmotherly figure, Wynne, for her amusing way of talking by using the phrase "willy, nilly with daggers" and good heart, Leliana, and of course for being my loyal hound, Bronx. Combine them all together and you get endless moments of laughter, wit and sarcasm.

Sten I don't normally get because, well, I have a hard enough time keeping track of folks as it is.

Loghain and Sten are both awesome. I totally understand Loghain's betrayal, he only did what he thought was best for Ferelden. I like Sten's ideas on how the world should be, plus, I like the Qunari race a lot.

I have gone just through one playthrough so far (started to play just recently), so I don't know them all well enough to judge properly. I have also killed Loghain after hard time deciding (in "real life situation" I would probably act differently, I did it because Alistair was insisting, largly for gameplay reasons) and regret that :P, so I am obviously not including him in the next.

Most favourite companions would probably be Sten and Zevran (Sten is interesting, and has sensible and consistent dialogs/opinions. And I like Zevran humour and pragmatism[?].)

I also think that Morrigan, Wynne and Alistair are done really well. (This doesn't mean that I like them so much ) ...though in fact, I like them all :)

Little of topic: What I would really like to see in next DA franchise are characters similar to Jolee Bindo and/or Kreia from KOTOR1,2 . (I do not mean this in a way that those two are similar. Just to be clear :P .)

Oghren.

Alistair: I can only handle so much Alistair before I want to club him in the face. In a friendly way of course.
Morrigan: Alright but not my bestest buddy ever.
Sten: Don't love him. Don't hate him.
Leliana: Too much bubblely happiness makes me want to vomit.
Dog: Bark!
Wynne: Reminds me of my own granny. I guess that's the point.
Shale: Birds birds birds. good lord would you shut up. other then that is likeable.
Zevran: He's a pal but his good looks make me jealous.

Oghren: !%$# it all. Lets kill them and get going to the pub.

Seems we found the same dialogue line option very amusing. I'm so proud of myself.
I think I need to make her tag along more often.

Edit:  And this is why I'm glad the Aimo/Gaider cutscene didn't make it into the retail game.  You're a great game writer Mr. Gaider but some of us like our Wtiches without big dramatic tears.<_<
Unless it's because they're melting.^_^

Erm, really? No social mobility, everyone born to a task that they do until the day they die without the possibility of change, occupation entirely controlled by class and gender?

I'm a Farscape fan, so I found it hard not to like Morrigan for her voice actress alone. That said, I like her as a character too. Her values are a bit warped, but I found myself beginning to sympathize with her after a few conversations in camp.

Shale is also pretty awesome. It kind of reminds me of Bender from Futurama.

Until I know more about Qunari culture, I can't just assume that it's a caste system as-we-know-it.

There are philosophical systems which espouse you being existentially content with the role you have chosen in life, that every path in life is valid/equal because they all lead to spiritual enlightenment. I'm not sure Sten meant "you're born as this and you will be this, like it or not."

As for his "women cannot be warriors"... I have to see a Qunari woman before I can judge. For all we know, the Qunari species could have much greater sexual dimorphism than humans/elves/dwarves. It's commonplace in many animals. And in the Darkspawn, lol.

The Aimo DAO fancomic written by Mr. Gaider.

A bit warped? Ahahaha she just gave me something like +10 approval for slaughtering every man, woman, and child in the -snip-. I almost couldn't do it.

I specifically went to talk to her, before the deed, just to steel myself (me, and my character) for what I was about to do. Wow, she didn't disappoint. She told me exactly what I needed to hear, like she was psychic.

I thought Shale was a drag queen Bender, but no. Hee.

For me has to be Duncan as non-playable character but you have to do every origin to see how much depth there is to him as you only see him for a couple of hours at the beginning there is a lot going on with him and they should have done something with him in awakening like let you know about his past or why he became a grey warden

But for best follower it has to be Alistair as he is just so awesome and cool about everything but morrigan is still good as well as she transforms from being a stuck up **** into a more nicer character when you get to know her

could you PM me about that? I'm curious.

From Origins, I'd have to say Leliana. A sweet girl with her own little quirks ^_^. Morrigan can be a b--th but she's alright. Zevran has some funny lines and is an interesting character. Alistair pisses me off. Maybe it's because I share some of his traits and so don't like having a 2nd me around? *shrugs* Wynne's grandmotherly advice and such can be a little annoying. Sten...I just don't know. Oghren I don't really know that well. Sandal of course needs mentioning as being awesome :D

From Awakening, my favorite so far is Sigrun. She's a fun, silly girl while remaining utterly BA imo. Oghren is over-the-top here. Irritating and not funny. Anders is like Alistair minus the whining, so it's an improvement. Morrigan is now Dalish, blonde, and a bit more openly self-conscious. Just got Justice, and I don't think I'll ever use Nathaniel, so *shrug*

If you use Nathaniel he is actually a really great character to play with, dont judge him as at the start he is a total ass and completely hates as he is deluded about you killing him dad but when he finds out the truth he turns into a great character to have in the party

He does seem to gain an actual head, but I don't always use archer rogues (at least as archers), and eventually a couple playthroughs will be with Couslands, so he's pretty much toast then.
