Hopefully TES:V will contain some fresh new ideas: a new race would be nice (such as the Imga: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Imga) and maybe some new combat, magic, and stealth skills? (Perhaps Shadow Magic and spears/polearms (like in Morrowind)).

So
it is the direct sequel to Oblivion? Does that mean it will be set
around the Imperial homeland (cant remember what it is called)? I was
really hoping they would go to a new area for the sequel.

Cyrodiil.  And from the wild, almost baseless, random rumors, yes it is the setting.  [smilie]../../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

I don't remember any of the rumors mentioning Cyrodiil specifically.

That's a good point, I don't see Cyrodiil mentioned in the rumor. I guess the "direct sequel" kind of suggested it would be in the same place though.

I think I've said this before, but wether it'll be a direct sequel or not, it does not mean it will take place in Cyrodiil.

As for more races, there are in fact a lot of races that hasn't been used. Like the Imga and Sload.

I'd like half breeds myself.

And brothels.

All great fantasy RPGs have brothels.

I hope the next Elder Scrolls returns to gritty artwork and environments like Morrowind. Oblivion is too colorful. Reminds me of a Disney film. Well not too gritty or colorful. Somewhere in the middle would be good.

Bethesda should take a few cues from Two Worlds 2. That game features some fantastic, varied environments.

Oblivion broke established lore; from the descriptions in Morrowind Cyrodiil should've pretty much looked like Risen's gameworld.

TESV TESV TESV!!!! WOOOO!

I couldn't most of the audio on the count of shrieking women, but I saw enough to know that is going to kick ass. Nords spilling the blood of Nords? Civil. War.

Couldn't be happier. Waiting for gameplay footage. And I hope its ots, not first person this time. Just my 2 cents.

At the end it was 11/11/11..that was the release date?

Yup! 11/11/11. What was the game that was releaseing 11/1/11? Do you think they devs from that studio had an "oh my god, we're wearing the same dress" moment backstage?

So who is it that "has already arrived?" The Akavar? The demons? I must know!

Uncharted 3, is releasing 11/1/11.

And apparently it will be on the rise of dragons again or something, according to the UESP.

I saw the transcript:

You should have acted.

They're already here.

The Elder Scrolls told of their return.

Their defeat was merely delay

Til the time after Oblivion opened.

When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood

But no-one wanted to believe.

Believe they even existed.

And when the truth finally dawns:

It dawns in fire.

But.

There's one they fear.

In their tongue, he's Dovahkiin -- Dragon Born!

Sexy.  Very sexy.  :D

I'm actually one of the minority that liked Oblivion MUCH more than
Morrowind. Seriously, I've put more hours into Oblivion on one
character than all my playthroughs of morrowind COMBINED.

So, yeah, I'm stoked. As far as I'm concerned, Bethesda is second only to Bioware when it comes to quality WRPGs.

Max von Sydow's voiceover + epic music= badass.

Holy crap I'm excited.

Seriously, this is now the 2011 game with dragons I'm most excited about. Akavir showing up maybe?

Yeah, I though that was Von Sydow. Oblivion is one of the most ambitious game I've played. I can't wait to see what they've cooked up for the sequel.

It has to be because they mentioned the Dragon Born at the end, Tiber Septim was the other figure to be called Dragon Born by the Akavir and he founded the Empire that lasted until Oblivion. So it must be the Akavir returning to try to take over Tamriel again.

Tiber Septim aka Talos was the Dragonborn and founder of the Empire. But TES V supposedly will take place two centuries after Oblivion (?), so it seems the PC will be a Septim heir or something?

EDIT: ninja'ed

I don't think so the line is dead by the end of Oblivion but maybe the new PC is the next Dragonborn and founder of a new Imperial line by defeating an Akavir invasion.

I knew it was supposed to be a direct sequel to Oblivion, but I hadn't heard anything about the timeline.

Oh and elderscrolls.com is looking pretty spiffy now too.

Sounds plausible enough...I wonder what they're talking about with "the sons of Skyrim spill their own blood" Civil war?

Most likely there was talk of unrest between the great houses of Skyrim in Oblivion, the power balance was upset by the Daedra invasion. Technically though all Humans are descendents of the Nords from Skyrim so it could be a continent wide civil war with the old empire totally destroyed.

TES 1 (Arena):

Emperor:  Help, I'm trapped!
Jagar:  Ha ha!  No staff, no resuce!
PC:  You *dies, restart game* mean... *dies, restart game*  *dies, restart game*   THIS *dies, restart game* staff?
Jagar:  Oh bugger!  *dies*

TES 2 (Daggerfall):

Emperor:  Hey you, kid, go kill this ghost.
PC:  Wut?  How?
Emperor:  Are you still here?
PC:  Ok, so I got this Super Golem named Liberty Prime or something.  Who wants it?
Everyone:  ME!
PC:  Ok. *chooses one, game ends*

TES 3:

Saint Jiub:  Hey kid, wake up.
PC:  Wut?
Azura:  Hey, sup.  You're a reincarnated hero.
PC:  Cool.  *stabs another god in the heart with a hammer, wins*

TES 4:

Emperor:  Hey kd, I'm Captain Picard.
PC:  Wut?
Assassin:  *stabs Picard*
Emperor:  Oh, ****, I'm dead.  Go find my son, Martin.
PC:  Ok.
Martin:  Sup.
Demons:  Everyone die!
Martin:  I'm a dragon!
PC:  Cool.
Martin:  I'm a god!
PC:  Cool.  *wins*
PC:  Oh hey, I'm a god too.
Martin: Cool.

You forgot how the TES3 hero totally stabbed a psycho **** to death and punched a man with a bull skull for a head in the face.

Oh, and how the TES4 hero totally saved another world from a bunch of machine men and became a god or something.
