Fractured Community

Does the community here feel that such a "splintering" of the Dragon Age forum was necessary?
Personally i feel like the forum's here present a more structured and feature rich experience, and that Bioware should merge the forums at the official site with the ones here.

Unfortunately, as with every official forum when a game is close to release, the main forums have been swamped with questions that have been asked hundreds of times and multi-page whining threads, though it doesn't seem so bad here. I remember the same happening just before NWN2 came out.

the people who arent leaving the old forums for this one are like sailors clinging to a sinking ship.
It's a sinking ship where the developers still post on a daily basis. Where the community lead bothers to update the community (Chris didn't bother to tell anyone here about the Warden Event needing another member for team USA. He hasn't updated the stickies in two weeks). And where there are far fewer bugs.

I don't think it matters. It's the interwebs, there's no such thing as an un-fractured community.the_one_54321 wrote...

this is true.
but it is going to fully sink eventually. that's a given. i was initially against moving over here as well, but i think it's proved a good move. i like the added connectivity. and since they other place will be going the way of the dinosaurs eventually, it's not like we really have a choice.

It's a 'sinking ship' because someday it's not going to exist? If you're not interested in the social networking features - an many aren't - there's no reason to join the BSN. Yes, as some point, the BioBoards and the BioNetwork will be merged, and at that point, it will probably be stable, the developers will be here, and the community leads will be active here.
Until that point, there's no reason for many member to migrate.

I don't think the ship is sinking so much as sailing into a drydock where it may become a museum, like HMS Victory, the Fram, or the USS North Carolina.
sounds like an appropriate analogy to me.

True, and the much more unfortunate truth is that the old forums will pop their clogs pretty soon.Maria Caliban wrote...

I'm having a hard time following all of these different forums. Doesn't help that they all move so fast
I have pretty much well friended those that have interesting ideas to post and it saves me the trouble of finding what threads to be interested in. Yes, I am not ashamed of my follower status. That and I live within the recent activity area and conduct all of my serious business there.
