Whatever happened to the patch 1.24 that was in the works before Atari screwed the world over?

There are still a lot that needs to be worked, as I believe OIE was rushed by the Atari losers in making Neverwinter Nights 2. Ashame Bioware didn't keep it though! But thats a different topic...

So has anyone ever heard anything about since?

the patch lies burried in a shelf somewhere next to alpha protocol's patch. obsidian can't release patches because the publisher has to do this. so it's atari's and sega's fault.

Not that one more patch would have a hope in hell of fixing any sizeable bunch of even the most horrible bugs this game has.

Actually it would. Especially if it addresses and puts in the things skywing, grinning fool, and a few others have laid out and even released fixes for. There is an awful lot fixed in community content. If they just focus on the things which are quick to fix, which we cannot fix, or what is already fixed but not released, it would result in a dramatically better experience all around. ( They were pretty close to release i think when the lawsuit came out which is a shame, NWN2 will keep selling for a long time too if NWN1 on gog.com is any indication )

There's a whole lot of hardcoded stuff the community can't touch though. For example the horrible way in which the game sometimes leaves modes like rapid shot on when you switch characters and sometimes it doesn't has been grinding my nerves a lot recently (it's especially lovely when it results in your wizard getting critted after the game decided to remove defensive casting).

Now my question is this:

Why did Atari screw Bioware and OEI over. I never got to play half the premium modules and you can't buy them anymore due to Atari. (So I was sadly forced to torrent to play Pirates of TSC, Infinite Dungeons, and Wyvern Crown) And not to mention, if I remember correctly, Ossian Studios would love to do a second Adventure Pack for Neverwinter Nights 2. And I agree with everyone that the community has done wonderful jobs at fixing what they can, but we need Atari to lose all rights to Neverwinter as a whole, so the developer can release patches, hell, maybe Bethseda should take over, they do a wonderful job.

There's a lawsuit over who'se "screwing" whom onver. Should be a bunch of threads in this forum on it. The short answer: Nothing can be done by anyone until the suit's over, and we have no information on when that will be. Ossian is doing an rpg for iPhone now.
