Well since it is a fantasy, there is nothing to stop the writers from resurrecting some "killed off" character, like having a kindly god, or spirit, bring them back... in a fantastical way of course. (I'm still waiting for Zu to return someday in JE2,
however I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Correct. The fact that it's a hand-wave doesn't belie the fact that we're completely serious about it. It wouldn't be random, but something we wanted to do. Considering that someone is going to end up on the forums raging about how it utterly destroyed their universe is a given-- that's going to happen no matter what we do. So it's hardly going to stop us, is it? Image IPB

(I'm still waiting for Zu to return someday in JE2,

Excellent choice.

i'd love to see sagacious zu return...since he appeared in spirit on the last section of the game, maybe he's reincarnated or left as a soul to roam the land. the spirit of the white lotus lives on:wizard:

The deaths on Virmire were two of the best scenes in the history of gaming.

Then came ME2 and screwed the pooch.

When playing Mass Effect with the knowledge that there will be two other games you really have to think about your choices because it will be a case that Wrex/Ashley/Kaidan won't be in your crew based on your choice.

Well "**** that!" ME2 said like corrupt politican after gaining office "It doesn't matter they won't be in your squad regardless of what you chose!" Then it exits with a twirl of its moustache.

David, if you don't mind me asking, couldn't you guys have made a better title for the second game of the Dragon age series?

because it seems the title Dragon Age 2 had confused more people (myself included) in the beginning rather then make people understand that it is a new chapter in the land of Thedas not a direct sequel to origins.

I think the people who mistook the title to mean something else are the ones who wanted to. They would have jumped to the same conclusion no matter what we had called it.

I'm just wondering if you are referring to his desire for Sagacious Zu to return in a sequel, or the fact he isn't holding his breath whether we'll ever get one. :bandit:

plotline deaths are awesome. Having companions die adds drama and helps you get more invested in the story. I really hope Garrus and Tali die in ME3...

However, I do agree that they should be scripted like Virmire and not punishments for failure like in the suicide mission.

Wo wo wo David hold on to your horses....or whatever you guys have there in Canada (lol)

The table top comparison came up not as my defense toward the feeling of loss that I may or may not feel at the fact my Warden's story is over (I'll tell you part of me is relieved and welcomes the introduction of Hawke, as it is given the choice right now I'd pick Hawke for DA2) but as a response to someone who asked why people felt badly about the idea of having to play different protagonists in each future DA title. Quite simply said people are feeling a wee bit like a player being told to drop their beloved character they grew attached to in the middle of a campaign (I gotta be honest david the idea of calling it dragon age 2 was odd in ny mind....if it was called Dragon Age: Rise to Power for instance it would have caused a lotless confusion but perhaps not as much less complaining). I'm not condoning it nor saying you should cater to them....just proposing a scenario to allow some to understand how these people are feeling (yes the comment about how in my groups the decision is shared was purely argumentative as the following sentence should have hinted at)

Now as for NG+.....well, I'll take that risk.

Telling Bioware to go easy on the death for the sake of continuity is no different than telling Bioware to go easy on the player decisions. "Whoa, whoa, Bioware! Don't let the player make any decisions! It might make future continuity difficult!"

I would require an example of when this has ever occured.

I honestly cannot think of any situation ever in which everybody was pleased.

I'm not English so I'm not very good at explaining myself.

you could have named it, I don't know, Dragon age 2: Champion of Kirkwall.

maybe that would have made the confusion less.

I just got confused when I heard about it the game in august, took me a a few hours before I finally understood what the game was about.

Personally I'm totally cool with the new concept for the second game and the fact that we are not going to play as the Warden.
Nevertheless I would have liked to see a nice subtitle for the second game in the series.
So after Dragon Age - Origins we would have gotten something like Dragon Age II - Armed & Fabulous The Dark Knight Part Deux Something Something Darkspawn Hawke's Tale or anything similar (better).
Just Sayin.

I honestly think the only title that would have avoided confusion would have been something like:

Dragon Age II: This One Is Definitely Not About The Warden, His Story Is Over, We Have A New Hero Now And His Name Is Hawke... Dead Serious. Warden Gone. New Hero Named Hawke.

And even then I'm pretty sure some people somewhere wouldn't have gotten it right away and still needed it explained.

*Double-checks the title on her Dragon Age box*

Wow. I guess it does say "Dragon Age: Warden, Warden, Warden." How did I miss that?

Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age Origins: Awakening

Dragon Age Origins: Hawke's Tale

Dragon Age Origins Hawke's Tale: Adventures of the Champion

Dragon Age Origins Hawke's Tale: Flemeth's Machinations

Dragon Age Origins Hawke's Tale Flemeth's Machinations: Morrigan's return

And so on. Be glad Bioware is dropping subtitiles.

They'd drop Origins, because they dropped origins.

In your examples, the third title would be: Dragon Age: Hawke's Tale.
