Playing an Infiltrator on Veteran...

Brought it with me onto the Derelict Reaper.  Lots of instakilled husks.

Then decided to take it with me onto the Suicide Mission.  It shut down Harby.

Next playthrough, I'm taking it with me to Horizon.

I find it hard to hit when Shepard uses it. And the effect that shuts down Biotic and Tech powers doesn't seem to trigger consistently. That being said, nothing compares to having Harby stand with a Collector Particle Beam less than a foot from your head, and cackling like a madman as you unload a full clip of ammo into him while he does absolutely nothing. That is one of my best moments from the game.

I absolutely love the Flashbang. I almost exclusively use it on an Infiltrator. Works very well on an engineer too.

It is stupid powerful, isn't it?

Anyone else feel guilty for using it on Harby? He tries so hard.

It should be useful for Vanguards too, right? Neutralize weapons and CHARGE.

Hmmm...I've never taken it for myself but I will try it when I import my Vanguard into ME2.

i dont like flashbang granades for shepard.

it's a combat power, so no benefits from upgrades, that means no CD bonus. you only get whatever your class passive gives you.

and for me, 6 second base CD is too long. that'll interfere with your AR spamming, cloak spamming, charge spamming, etc.

for a vanguard neutralize weapons first and then charge won't work. the incapacitation doesnt last that long

iirc, on insanity you have a 20% penalization on all duration powers, so when you research tech and biotics duration bonus, you only are mitigating that effect. but, since this is a combat power there's no mitigation available.

to make things even worse, there's duration penalization on larger foes.

lastly, and i know this is about player skill, those things can bounce and have a delay in the detonation, so your aiming and timing must be very accurate.

Oh, I see. OK, then perhaps I'll take Slam as my Vanguard bonus.

jwalker does bring up valid points. But FB does have a large radius and is capable of locking down multiple enemies in different ways if practiced well, I think thats the reason why it's classed as a 'combat' power and has no benefits from research upgrades in that it can be very powerful in trained hands.

The OP of the thread linked makes good use of Flashbang in his Infiltrator and doesn't interfere with Cloak, granted you will sometimes miss with FB but the chance to 'cast' another one is not that far off.

The area of effect on Flashbangs is just stupid. It's 65% larger than an unstable warp, and 800% larger than a Wide Singularity. Yeah, you read that right, the AoE of Flashbang is NINE TIMES LARGER than Wide Singularity, or Area Overload, or Area Reave, or most of the other so-called "Area" powers. It's 26.5 times larger than Heavy Singularity. Once you familiarize yourself with the mechanics, there's very little actual "aiming" required.

My favorite part of Banging Flashes is that it's pretty much the only power that lets me play on my XBox without constantly pausing or otherwise micromanaging the power wheel. Hell, it actively discourages micromanaging, since it aims so much better in real time. Just get a power that curves around cover for the other hotkey and you're all set.

I just finished the collector base with lvl 1 flashbang, Kasumi in tow and used squad disruptor (gave inferno to myself), and man that was the easiest play through using Kasumi's improved flashbang!

Harby was toast! All of the other times going through the base I used some other bonus power, and the fighting was tough, so I thought I'd share.:D
