I'd prefer to buy from Fry's (local retailer) or directly from EA Games, but for some reason, they both are priced at $60.

I think thats the going rate for EA's PC games now, as Medal of Honor for PC was $60 and then looking at other EA games coming out early nex t year on PC- Dead Space 2, Bulletstorm, Crysis 2- all $60 for PC. We can all thank Activision and Blizzard for this trend.

But online, Fry's has DA2 for $50 to preorder, as does Best Buy (with free shipping).

To be fair, the price rise for PC games was inevitable. I think SC2 was the first PC game I saw at 60$. But I don't blame Activision or Blizzard, or any publisher. If anything, the price increase indicates to me that the PC gaming market is getting stronger, healthier and larger. I think the price of PC games was kept at 50 dollars for so long simply because the market wouldn't bear it, and now, after many years, it will.

I've got my Sig Edition preordered :)

I think that seems to be pretty standard, mine cost £38.99 from Amzon.co.uk

Out of curriosity i just checked how the UK price compared when you factor in the exchange rate - it costs £1.38 more than it would in the USA. I would feel bitter (I mean, i could buy half a cup of coffee with that!) but of course our delightful English weather more than makes up for any slight difference in costs...

Eh, it was Activision and Modern Warfare 2 that started this $60 trend. If anything publishers/developers are just making a ton more profit off of the PC versions now since they don't have the licensing fee anyway and if you purchase directly from EA thats even more money straight to them. Good for them, but not great for PC gamers necessarily.

I ordered my copy months ago before Amazon (or EA) raised the price from $50 to $60.

here in England it's slightly more expensive at £30 (£29.99) and even then I'm expecting a few pounds being knocked off.....I'm hoping as VAT is going up.

Ordered mine through Game (UK) ages ago, although I had to re-order due to them not joining in with the 'upgrade your order' scheme and the new price they marked it at reduced the value of the edition somewhat. Would have gone elsewhere (such as play, who did offer the upgrade) but they put the price down to what it should be for a limited time anyway. Not sure if they have put it back up to the higher price since.

Only a handful of PC games have been $60 so far.  Most are still selling for $40 to $50.  Anywho, I pre-ordered on Amazon when they still had the Signature Edition at $50 (& I used a $25 gift card :D).

Yes, if you pre-ordered it through Amazon at 50, they upped it to 60. So you're still paying 60, regardless.

So is this just a "everyone pat each other on the back" thread or can someone pop in and say that they have no plans on pre-ordering or buying the game without fear of reprisal?

I refuse to preorder at $59.99. I still want "Dragon Age 2" but not at a price approaching what I paid for the Origins collector's edition. The bonuses are not good enough to justify that expense. If it comes down before the deadline at a store I shop from, I will preorder.
