This. Every time. I hate how much people metagame to see a cooler cutscene as opposed to actually roleplaying.

Ironically this statement is roleplaying due to having foretold knowledge of precisely the event you deem metagaming. Allow us to dive in deeper and I shall use my current Femshep for the example.

-She chose Kaidan to join Kirrahe, believing he was better suited to command.
-Ash was obviously chosen to arm and the defend the nuke. Logical conclusion here for my Femshep is Ash is a superior direct soldier and in a firefight, she would hold longer.
-When having to choose between who to save, my Femshep chose to rescue Kaidan due to a romance.

You could also derive an idealistic outcome from going to the AA Tower. That unit had already been engaging the Geth and therefore would have less to contend with, resulting in a quick fight and potential rescue of both. Of course, this arguably could easily be spun to favor the bomb site.

Regardless, call it emotional, illogical or whatever you so desire, such is the essence of roleplaying.

I think you're right, there are merits to either argument be it the AA tower or the bombsite, I think what made this particular decision so dramatic was the fact that their is no clear logical choice to fall back on to lift your Shepards guilt. He/She is given a choice with clear consequences between Kaidan and Ashley, and Shepard is forced to make a subjective decision and sacrifice one of his crew mates. Whether its for personal reasons (rommance for example) or practical reasons (A sentinal as opposed to a soldier would be more useful to my squad) you're making the decision based on the person as opposed to the situation

You don't know on your 1st playthrough that there is no possibility of saving them both, so this "guilt" thing is not a neccessary follow-up of the situation.

Maybe the scene of the squadmate fighting to the end at the bomb site has something to do with it... Because it does look like that squadmate completes the mission while Shepard is rabbitting in the Normandy. If so, only confirms that the right decision (from the BioWare's PoV too) is to return to the bomb site.

This is fine. If you want to endanger the mission by saving your LI go for it. It's a choice based on Shepard. "Seeing the cooler cutscene," however, is not roleplaying. That is what frustrates me.

I hope you relise i was only asking for peoples opinions on which choice they thought had a better turn out. In no way at all am i trying to influence people to make their decisions based on "which had the better cut scenes". Its entirely up to them how they like to play the game.

Edited: Decided not to stir the pot, I just don't care anymore. Stop telling me how to play the game.

salarian casualties. Depending on who you sent with them, just remember the salarians need help just as much as the one guy you can leave behind.

I like the AA Tower. I think the scene with Saren holding Shepard over the ledge and then Kaidan/Ashely leaning against the bomb, fighting the Geth single-handedly and watching the Normandy fly off is very cinematic and well done.
