*This is not meant as advertising spam.  We are all gamers and many of us use Steam*

Steam's Thanksgiving weekend sale has begun!  They are also doing a contest that coincides with the sale.  If you fill out a wishlist of games (minimum of 10 games in the list) then you are put into a sweepstakes.  Valve will randomly select 30 winners per day throughout this sale and gift them the top 5 games in their wishlist!

I bought Alpha Protocol for my friend today for $7.50!

Use this thread to share what games you've been able to snag over the course of the sale.  Maybe one of us will end up winning the sweepstakes!

Well the daily specials will keep changing until the 29th, so you'd still have time to pick something up Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning (likely ends 10:00 AM pacific).

Eh, Steam. Not really the biggest fan of them due to their ****ty pricing (compared to some of the major UK-based online retailers which I usually use), and what with prefering physical copies of games. Still, I'm not above using the service and as such I do have 83 games on it, pretty much exclusively bought during holiday sales such as this one.

And since I can't pass on being able to win 5 games, I did just make me a wishlist. Currently the top 5 on it are.... Divinity 2: the Dragon Knight Saga, Civ 5, Blood Bowl Legendary Edition, N:TW, and King's Bounty Armored Princess. Though I might exchange something for either Tropico 3 or Doom 3 (as I'd really like to play the Dark mod).
Now let's hope I'll be one of those daily lucky winners!

Doubt I'll be gifting anyone else something though. I rarely even talk to the people on my friends list anymore, and besides, I can barely even afford to buy myself much in the way of games atm thanks to this bobdamned unemployment.

Yes, a Valve spokesman was quoted saying if you can add it to the wishlist then it is eligible.

As a frequent user of Steam and a frequent peruser of games in the UK, I don't think Steam is bad (And even then it's the fault of the publisher, not Valve). It can be one of the best places, but also one of the worst.

My wishlist is:
1. Civilization V
2. Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
3. AlternativA
4. Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy
5. Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition

I hate these deals! =(

I'm a big fan of retail copies but its crap like this that really cuts into my box collection! Both Deus Ex games for only 5$ Alpha Protocol for 7$! I can't pass this up! I mean I just got Age of Empires 3 complete for 10c! I hate RTS games and will never play it but 10c!

....Why am I so pissed at a good thing!? =(((((((((((((((((

Just to make people aware, I looked at the contest rules for the wishlist top 5 giveaway, you need to have at least ten things in the wishlist to be considered. But you can change the priority by looking at your wishlist.

Anyways, Happy Steamgiving.

Then it'll be Steammas and/or Steamakauh and/or Steamwanza and/or Steamdestroystheinternetforamonth.

*edit*  Thats what I get for trusting my eyes to read text off a computer monitor :P *end edit*

The 10 item minimum wishlist requirement is in the original post. Only the top 5 have the opportunity to be given for free.

Desperately searching for games that I might actually want. So far, I've got Portal 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Civilization 5, and Divinity Two: Dragon Knight Saga or something like that. Apparently it includes Ego Draconis. Is there any benefits in also getting Ego?

I guess I could put some of the Bethesda games on there. I don't own any atm.

Alright now I've got:

Portal 2
Fallout: New Vegas
Oblivion
Morrowind
Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga
Fallout 3
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Witcher 2
Civilization V
Alpha Protocol

and possibly Dungeon Siege III? I see it's developed by Obsidian, don't really know anything about it though.

I know I want Portal 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. I'm just not sure which other ones I should put in my top 5. I don't really care for Alpha Protocol but I added it anyways because I needed a game to add.

My list:

1. Civilization V
2. Fallout: New Vegas
3. The Witcher
4. Portal 2
5. Risen

I'm fairly certain I won't be able to play the Witcher 2, but free is free. Changed to Portal 2.

Any suggestions? I'm not sure I like my list.

Why don't you think you'd be able to play the Witcher 2? Is it a particularly demanding game?

I forgot about Risen. I'm not sure I know much about that game either, other than it's a fairly recent RPG. More reading to do.

With not yet released games being eligible for the wishlist thing, I guess I really need to add Portal 2 to my list. Soooo....

1. Portal 2
2. Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga
3. Blood Bowl Legendary Edition / Dawn of War 2: Retribution  (so hard to choose :\\ )
4. Civilization 5
5. King's Bounty Armored Princess (or Platinum edition if packs like that count)

Yeah, it's not really Valve or Steam in particular that I hold a grudge against, but digital distribution in general. When DD first started there was some hope that it would lead to reduced prices over retail stores, what with there being less costs for publishers because of no physical box and manual and whatnot, but ultimately all we got was mostly the same old suggested retail prices (€50 - $50 - errr.. not sure about the UK equivalent actually, £40 or so?).
Meh, pay €50 for a new game through DD or from a high street retail store, or $25-30 (€30-35 at current rates) from the likes of Amazon? Easy choice.

At least Steam offers some bonuses over a lot of its DD competitors, like an easy backup system, or the steam overlay. That combined with the occasional 50% or more sales sometimes makes it worth it.

The Dragon Knight Saga is a combination of (a somewhat remastered version of) Ego Draconis, which is the original game, and Flames of Vengeance, which is the addon.

So there's no appreciable difference? Weird. Ego Draconis costs $10 more dollars.

That's what I thought...

To whoever has played Divinity II: Is the game worth it? ...Worth $0... Well, you know what I mean. Should I add this or is there something better?

There's a HUGE difference, guys. Think Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

It is worth it if you enjoy third person action RPG's.  I bought it this summer not expecting much and found it to be quite good.  It's better than Risen.

I have no idea of the level of difference, as I've only played the Enhanced Edition.

Off the top oc my head, this is the difference between ED and DKS. DKS has:
1. Engine optimisations
2. Better gameplay
3. Greater balance
4. The "Flames of Vengeance" expansion
5. Better quality graphics (Could be wrong on that front)

Everything I've seen points to DKS being miles better than ED.
