Gugh...run texmod and when I select the package to run, it tells me

The following file could not be found: masseffect2original.exe.xml (I use the steam version so I have to change the file names)

Any help?

Isn't it just .exe? (not at my ME2 computer, so I can't really check anything). For me it works just fine by changing the name (and changing the Texmod name to MassEffect2.exe), then open MassEffect2Original.exe as Target Application and then just load the texture mods...

Again, WOW! Such a huge improvement! It's just a world of difference when putting Miranda and Jacob on a mission together. Keep up the excellent work. I definitely look forward to seeing more in the future.

If anyone from Bioware is paying attention to this thread, I'd say JeanLuc761 deserves a job. Or, at least some official recognition for these huge improvements, and maybe a complimentary copy of ME3 when it comes out. ;)

Haha, you're too kind.  I appreciate the sentiment but my work is still on a completely amateur level compared to the work of a professional game company

As far as my hopes for this mod go, I'm quite content with the recognition I'm getting (though BSN is the only place I advertise it).  Biggest improvement would come from a working .pcc compiler/extractor so I can stop using Texmod, but I'm not counting on that.

If your having trouble with texmod and steam I made a blog on it. I do need to update it with a few things but the basics are there.

Wow, what an improvement! :o
Awesome work dude! Still gonna hold off on my 11th playthrough 'till yer all done though, but no hurry of course, take your time. :)

Also, @Spartanburger thanks for the walkthrough with Texmod, another Steam user here. ^_^

Thanks for your good work, JeanLuc. The added detail on Miranda's outfits is great, and the loyalty outfit is stunning! Their textures have lost the flatness they had in the original version. This is going into all my games.

The only part I don't like so much is the changed skin texture. I guess you added the same effect you used for the outfits, for her skin has lost some of its smoothness and in bright light it appears freckled.

Your modesty is admirable, but the quality of your work and the extent that it improves upon the work produced by the "professional game company" speaks for itself. Just sayin'.

All I can say is thank you very much and I look forward to your keeping it up. :)

These are stunning. I can't wait to see more, but make sure you're sleeping. Eating. All that good stuff! Of course, these textures are good stuff.

Thank you :)

Thank you, that helped immensely. Finally got it to work, but the FPS drop was ridiculous. Too bad I have a ATI card unfortunately.

@JeanLuc - really love the hi-res textures, but I'm afraid I must agree with Ieldra - I know you were aiming for a more realistic skin tone for Miranda, but in places of dim lighting, her skin looks really blotchy now, especially with dynamic shadows and high-bloom options chosen. Any chance that you could release a download that retains her original skin tone?

Hey folks, something new for you. Due to popular request, I've created a revised version of Miranda that restores some of the smoothness to her skin, but still retains the high detail in the original mod. This will not replace the mod already uploaded, but it is an alternative for those who want it.

@JeanLuc761: Again, thank you for your efforts and really, your time in making these and also for allowing us to participate in your creations.

I hope that some of the criticism about the look of Miranda's skin does not affect your resolve in continuing your texture upgrade projects. I certainly found no faults in what you have done thus far.

Actually, I'm planning to release another texture at some point tonight.  Trust me, my resolve is going strong ;)

You can wait for four hours or so :P

It's not a major texture, just one of Shepard's "casual" outfits (both male and female).

Alright, got another one for you folks. This one was considerably more simple, but the result still turned out great. This is the Cerberus "Formal" outfit for both MaleShep and FemShep, now brought to 2048x2048.

Original texture was 1024x1024 for MaleShep and 512x512 for FemShep.

JeanLuc, there appears to be something wrong with your revised Miranda:

Here's a screenshot with the original game textures - note the collar, your mod is not installed:

This is the screenshot you posted on the Miranda thread yesterday.

This is a screenshot I made in my game after installing revised Miranda. Note the collar - your mod is installed - but her skin texture has reverted to the original:

What happened? I don't really mind having the original skin textures together with the higher-res outfit, but the version in the second shot is more detailed which I also like. I noticed this as I wanted to make comparisons between the various modified graphic settings and mods.

Someone should make wallpapers with your textures, they're a work of art (I would, but anti-aliasing on my ATI card results in bloom "blobs" around some 3D models and I have no idea how to remove it). Just browsing through the screenshots is a lot of fun and shows just how much high-res textures improve the game.

Jean Luc, which character do you plan to do next? Don't take this as a request, but I'd love to see Zaeed and Garrus. They're the most sensibly equipped squad members and can be taken anywhere without ruining immersion, while both have fantastic character armor design that could benefit from higher-res magic. ;)

EDIT: By the way, Miranda's default outfit really benefitted from the reworked texture - it's still nonsensical for combat, but actually looks like some kind of resistant fiber and has a sense of volume now, rather than just a flat piece of latex. A bit like Medieval aketon/padding, if anyone's a warfare buff.  :)

Excellent!
B)

Thank you again for your hard work. I especially appreciate this one, because I use this uniform on my femShep and it looks pretty bad, especially in a scene with her and any of the improved textures you've already provided. It will be very nice to have the Commander looking respectable.
:)

[edit]
Random aside: your femShep looks a lot like mine. Probably because of the hairstyle and the fact there are only so many facial structures to go around, but still. Nice taste. ;)

Tested and approved.
Good work !

Miranda's face is more detailed and still respects the original one.
And her outfits are even more beautiful.

I just played some with the Tali default, Miranda, and Jacob textures you made. Just awesome. Took about 30 seconds to load them all. No hit on frame rate either running around the citadel testing it out. Playing at 1920x1080. Makes me want to start a new game.Keep up the great work. Who's next?

Who's next?  I'm thinking Garrus.

*looks at half-finished 4096x4096 face texture* :?
