Wow, thanks so much for giving it a try! Its nice that you have been so open to community suggestions so far, a lot of modders might not have taken the time.
I prefer that texture
personally, although i think it needs
scaling up a bit, as it looks a little too 'fine' at the moment.

Hmmm, sounds interesting! And dont rush on our account, its better that you are completely happy with it rather that releasing it quicker just to satisfy our drooling.

That is, larger scale pattern, without applied gradient. I think this version is a bit too "intense". The previous checkerboard isn't perfect, but it scales better in the game, plus being "flat" is a plus - it adapts to in-game lighting rather than a pre-applied gradient.
Maybe take the original pattern but downscale it just a bit (as it's oversized) for higher-res texture?
I do quite like that texture, my main complaint with the original texture he showed was that the 'squares' were a bit too sharp and well defined, like the squares had been painted on as opposed to the armour looking like it had been made out of something that had been 'woven', which is why i suggested adding a slight gradiant like the texture above.
Anyways, what ever look he goes for im sure it will look good, i have been most impressed with his texture skills so far!
