You asked for it. Fixed Garrus' face; no more blurry!Marcus22Khaar wrote...
I completely agree with you. PC version Mass Effect should have better textures. I wish Garrus in ME1 would look something similar to those textures :innocent:

Download the fix here.

Man, I should have written a tutorialRyzaki wrote...
So...what exactly do I do with the file? Which folder do I place it in? Sorry if I'm being a bother and any help would be appreciated.
1) Extract Texmod to an availiable folder, and create a shortcut for it on the desktop if you wish.
2) Open Texmod, and choose your MassEffect2.exe as the application to open.
3) Download the texture mod and extract to your TexMod folder.
4) In Texmod, click the "Open Package" button, and select the texture .tpf file.
5) Click "Run" and enjoy!

For those having trouble with the Steam copy, apparently that is a known issue with Texmod. This workaround might work, but I'll see if there are other methods.

Hmm...I had no luck. I renamed the ME2exe in Steam as suggested and when I try to run the game. Steam can't find it. Sometimes Steam can be a pain in the ass when it comes to mods.

Ah okay. Thanks.
Edit: Still no luck. I give up for now.

first put texmod.exe in the same folder as the masseffect2.exe
second rename masseffect2.exe into masseffect2original.exe
third rename texmod.exe into masseffect2.exe
fourth start the game via steam, it should start texmod instead
fifth select the masseffect2original.exe in texmod and then select the package u wanna load and press run.
now it should start me2 with custom textures.
there might be a windows securiry warning which u have to approve the first time ur doing this

Yeah, I really do apologize for that seam. I'll keep searching for a fix, but I can't promise anything.MaaZeus wrote...
Thank you, the new texture looks gorgeus. Though the seam at her neck IS a bit distracting. Hopefully you manage to fix it one day but great job so far. A huge upgrade over original texture.
In related news, chances are good that I'll be releasing a high res texture for Jacob tonight, so stay tuned.

Oh good lord no, it was nothing that complex!kaff33nd wrote...
Wow, this thread got big, fast! JeanLuc, I'm very curious how you made the default (512x512 or 1024x1024) textures a different size without crashing Mass Effect 2? Did you unwrap the UVs again in Max? I'm of the understanding that this is the only way to increase the resolution. Could you explain the process please? I know you probably don't have much time to sit and write an expose, but I'm really interested to know how you did this. I won't be able to sleep until I know!
If you've gone to all that trouble, then kudos my friend!
All I did was extract the necessary textures from the game using TexMod (or umodel for normal maps), upscale them in photoshop, then paint over them to make sure I wouldn't run into any UV problems.
