Thanks for this. I play on the xbox, but your work, if nothing else, has furnished me with some magnificent screenshots.
Wait until you see the other characters

Legion is pretty far down the road, unfortunately. Currently working on Shepard's armor, Miranda and Kasumi.Mesina2 wrote...

Exactly. It doesn't look unpleasant, not by any stretch of the imagination. But man, when I clear up the checker pattern on the armor...we're going to have some pretty stuff.Ieldra2 wrote...
The N7 armor? Yes, that needs attention. The low resultion is very noticeable.
Also, I'm very encouraged and excited with Miranda's progress

Absolutely fantastic work, JeanLuc! I only wish BioWare had released Mass Effect 2 on the PC with such textures, or at least a more convenient way to mod than the resource-hungry TexMod.
May I politely ask you consider 2048x2048 version of your textures too? I can't stand jaggies and I try to play with at least 2xAA, and that really kills the framerate in the UT3 engine. With TexMod it's almost a catastrophe...
Have you considered the other armors for Shepard and NPCs for retexturing? The Collector's armor has a great pattern (for example) but it's a bit low-res. While some NPCs are just horrible. Especially the scientist outfits and Krogan armors...
Also, any plans for some ME1 tuning after you finish this? At least re-used textures and the main character (Ash, Tali, Garrus, Kaiden, Liara and Wrex)? Heh, my wish-list got pretty big, sorry!
I was thinking about starting an ME2 playthrough next week, with more free time around the holidays, but I'm definitely going to wait until you finish the squad mates, at the very least. The visual quality is huge!
PS. Out of curiosity, what AF setting do you use? The maximum in-game, or forced through the GPU driver?

I'll definitely be doing all the squadmates and the vast majority of the NPC's (pixelated textures make me cry). I'm undecided about doing the Collector/Terminus/Inferno armor, but I'm probably going to do a high res version of the Kestrel armor.
As for ME1, I'm also undecided about that. I might work on some characters for it (Tali needs some work, as does Wrex's armor), but it's really uncertain right now.
Sorry for the lack of updates over the last few days folks, I've been busy as hell with work. I hope to have some more progress shots over the next couple days.

edit: so i tried it and it looks like it's working along w/ the uniform mod. the hood looks crisper, face has eyebrows, and the eyes aren't as glowy. so i think it's working. great stuff! hope to see more characters done soon. thank you!

So, I bring you progress. First image shows the difference (Her shoulder is new, her neck is the default).

Second image shows off the overall clarity.

Finally, an update! Been experimenting with Shepard's armor a bit. The armor is covered in a checkerboard pattern, but it was extremely blurry with the default textures (especially FemShep, as her textures are half the resolution of MaleShep's)

That's really impressive! Are you planning on doing this for all her armor sets? If so, you're much more dedicated than I would be.

I'll be doing the N7 (default) and Kestrel armor for sure as those two are my favorites, but I'm undecided about Blood Dragon, Terminus, Cerberus and Inferno armor.lastpatriot wrote...

That's kind of what I was hoping you would say as the only two I ever use are the default and the Kestrel. The stats on the Blood Dragon and Cerberus kind of suck - and then there is that who helmet issue....

I had hoped that when ME2 was released that Bioware would have made ample use of the PC-Platform's superior processing/graphical ability to deliver richly detailed armors/clothing. Instead, us PC gamers got stuck with the 360's pathetic textures, textures that were meant to be viewed from the distance of a couch and not a desk. It unfortunately goes to show that even Bioware (my favorite developer, BTW) is forced to take the easy way out when it comes to developing different platform games side-by-side.
To the Bioware Devs:
I know that when the issue of Garrus' blurry face was raised by PC fans, Bioware was well into its development of Mass Effect 2 and so Jack Lamden mentioned that the team lacked lacked the physical resources to address that bothersome issue. We accepted that statement (grudgingly) but ME2 is more optimized than ME1 and so a patch that fixes these textures surely wouldn't be that hard to create? Let me state here, that I've no experience in programming / game designing - so I've really no idea how long this stuff takes in reality...
However, as Chris Priestly posted a few days ago, the team is still at work on additional DLC; so if there is still a component of the team that is working on PC/360 ME2, would they please look at JeanLuc761's work and try incorporate some (or all of it as a patch or DLC package? :innocent:) It would mean the world to Mass Effect 2 PC gamers if these little (or for some - major

Are you planing to make new textures for shepards hair too? The default ones looks awful, especially on female character. I would really appreciate that

Sorry for bothering, but I have a question. For creating working tpf file there must be textures and UV map for this with same resolution, right?

Thank you very much
@Jason007Fisher
That's actually the purpose behind this mod. I love Mass Effect 2, but I was disappointed with the texture quality on the majority of the characters. I know they need to limit it due to the limitations of Xbox 360 hardware, but it was still disappointing. As for Bioware making it an "official" mod, that would be nice but I'm certainly not holding my breath.
@EduardoSVK
I'm still debating on the hair textures. While I'd like to improve them, hair (and organic textures in general) is not my forte. I'm practicing, but no promises.
@Wizz
The UV map is fairly irrelevant as far as my process goes. I simply use the ingame texture as a backdrop to prevent me from screwing up the already existing UV placement.

Would you be able to provide us with several versions of Shep's armor textures? I'd love the checkerboard pattern to be less apparent, i.e. grey or lшпре grey. I'm hoping it's fairly easy to achieve once you have a crisp version.

Hmm... Yes. I find the pattern to be too noticeable. I guess that it can get worse with light-colored armor.

Earlier today I uploaded your mods for Jacob/Tali...all I can say is...
You have a great talent. I eagerly await your mods on Shepard's armor!
P.S. Bioware:
if JeanLuc761 can design incredible textures, I'm sure that you guys can equally do so. Now that ME2 PS3 has gone gold, would it be possible for the team to please release a patch that updates a lot of ME2 PC's textures, especially with the important characters. :innocent:
