The only thing that seems to be impacted by using different numbers of TexMods, or using the high-qual instead of the ultra-high, it load times.
Currently, I use these mods.

Tali Final (visible face)
Thane Final
Zaeed Final
FPS does not change from using one mod (the fixed visor), no mod (only launching through TexMod) or all of them. The same FPS decreases at the same locations.
I have managed to increase my ingame loadtimes be replacing the .bak file that is the loading animations with basic .bak.
The only change is in initial loadtime. When I had around 23-25 mods enabled, it took me 14 minutes.
Maybe we should say wha types pf machines do what if people are curious to see how long a load while take, how long are they willing to wait I guess. I have close to the same thing.

Just under 6 minutes to load all, no change in frame rates.
Does anyone know a good place to get shots of characters after you complete the game? I'm trying to find a place with good light that isn't to far from the Normandy to change characters easily and doesn't have a ton of NPC's walking around.

I've done some work on it, but until Grunt is completed it's pretty low-priority.Ieldra2 wrote...

No frame-rate dips? Badass.

It's pretty mid-range by modern standards; I can't get Mass Effect 2 to run much higher than 35fps if I'm lucky.
Also, for anyone who was worried the upcoming "optimized" pack is going to cause a serious drop in texture quality...I hope this alleviates your fears.

And I must say, you're one lucky guy if you got the Framerate dips to stop.

Is there an ETA for the optimized pack? No pressure, just curious. :innocent:

The problem with the FPS drops has been linked to ATI and AMD cards, whith NVidia cards having little to no drop at all. One with a HD 5870 had drops down to 20 fps at 1920x1080. I, with a HD 5770, have a low of 11 fps.JeanLuc761 wrote...

As for the optimized pack, that does look good. I am wondering how it looks at higher resolutions, I'll probably deal with the load times and stick with the ultra high simply because I am insistent on ultra quality like that. But if I do notice better FPS with little-to-know noticeable difference in quality, I'll probably switch.
I have a planned playthrough where I set fraps to take a screenshot every 5 seconds. I have no idea what random shots I'm going to get...

I too use a top of the line gaming rig with an 460GTX and I get random FPS drops.

Your poster is actually tonight's project, though I doubt I'll finish it. I'm a relentless perfectionist (though, ironically, I end up making a lot of mistakes anyway), so I imagine that it'll take a few days to get a result I'm happy with. It will serve as a nice demonstration of the high res textures though.LuxDragon wrote...

How is it linked to ATI/AMD if he is clearly using a Geforce Nvidia. (No denying it, just that for atleast him and I, we use Nivida)

All users with major FPS problems (I'm talking, going from ~60 fps to ~15 i.e. me, not just a few FPS like ~30 to ~25) have had ATI/AMD cards. There has been only one user that I've seen with a AMD/ATI card that did not have FPS problems and s/he was running two HD 5770's in crossfire. At first I thought it was the crossfire setup, but I've spoken with other people who have crossfire setups (one had dual 5870's) and they all had it.
All these users also experience these drops NOT at random but in pecific areas. The CIC. When talking to TIM. During the last portion of Garrus's Loyalty there is a spot as well.

60 FPS to 15-30 FPS in random spots that seem kind of specific. Its unplayable to an extent and it makes me just prefer playing without the mods
No offense, I know I wasn't 100% clear when I explained this before.
No offense to Jean Luc either, I love your work and as a fellow texturist, I realize the amount of effort went into this stuff, but as a gamer, I don't think you can blame me for not wanting to bother with random slow-downs.
Which to be honest, is more of a texmod issue, and not your textures. But whatever.

Then there has to be somehting else going on. You and Jean are the only NVidia users I've seen with the problem. So now I am completely at a loss for the cause.Doommarine23 wrote...

Would be kickass if, though never be able to master the shading due to the game engine, if you got the level of detail from the boot buckles, her shirt (which isn't a harness like in-game) and the zipper on the back of the jumpsuit. Just thought I'd show something that may inspire to push the envelope to the game's breaking point. :innocent:

I think the engine is already near its breaking point at 4096x4096 textures, but that's probably more due to texmod being a memory hog than anything else. I've noticed a lot of stability problems when using all my mods at once, though this has been (hopefully) fixed with the 2048x2048 textures.MACharlie1 wrote...
