Higher resolution textures for characters (PC Mod)

So what's the diffrence between the files in the first post and the complete pack?
And what does the "Optimized" mean?
Also, what about the Appearance Pack 1 (Thane, Jack, Garrus) and 2 (Miranda, Grunt, Tali) ?
And can you please list what exactly you're covering?

But don't get me wrong, the pictures look astonishing. I haven't used them yet but I'm downloading everything right now.

This is somewhat related:

I'm playing LoTSB. I finished it and am reviewing video logs. It gets to the one on Jacob. Instead of showing the video of him doing his shirtless situps it shows the texture palate for a drell's face, only it was all purple rather than green. I think it's Feron, but I can't be sure.

This is what was shown:

I am so confused right now. Why does the Shadow Broker have videos of the face texture for a Drell? Why did the Shadow Broker think that the textures were Jacob doing situps? What is this I don't even



My only theory is that the sheer awesomeness of Jacobs bare abs created a malfunction in video recording electronics so that they recorded the skinned face of a Drell instead of the blinding awesome.

I've had this happen several times when using TexMod. Last I recall was also LotSB where Shep first comes back to the Shadow Broker base and where Liara is supposed to appear on the monitor, I got Liara's face texture. I also had gotten one earlier during Jack's loyalty mission - instead of the hologram of the Cerberus security guard, it was just some random texture that was appearing. Just a random glitch I guess.

I'm going to be completely redoing the OP within the next day or two with a readme on how to make this mod run, detailed contents of the "Optimized pack" and a better, easier to read layout.  I hope I can answer all of your questions then :)

LOTSB in particular seems susceptible to that glitch.  Honestly, I think it's just a case of Texmod misplacing a texture location.  I've tried to find a fix for that, but it seems to be a random occurence. 

That said: That texture displayed there is Thane's specular texture.

Ohh, me likes. But what about an hybrid? Like, silver and blue so it's closer to his ME3's outfit.

That's truly bewildering to me, it seems like a simple accessory. What is it with the AA's anyway? Everyone complained about Thane and Jack having shades, so what does Bioware do? They give Miranda, Grunt, and even Tali additional interfaces in the next AA pack <_<

Anyway, everything looks good, I get everything running through Steam in 5 minutes like you said. I also found out Texmod was canceling the forced anti-aliasing that I enabled through nVidia, and the only way I got it to work was renaming the executable to UT3 and then selecting that in nVidia. If anyone knows a way around it so my ss are properly named, that'd be kewl.

Also, Kasumi's ultra textures link to Samara_Final. Might be a typo.

I'd like to ask you guys something.

I've managed to use texmod and the improved textures without any trouble so far but ever since I started using them the whole game seems so much darker than before. Actually, in some parts of the game it gets so bad that I can barely make out the characters at all. They end up being covered with really really dark shadows. Adjusting the brightness in the options doesn't seem to work.
Is it supposed to be that way or is texmod interfering with my game in some way?
Did anyone else here notice something like that?

I have always had that problem before ever using texmod. This thread has some simple and more advance solutions.  However, I have not heard of this issue coming up DUE to texmod use, so I do not have a clear cut answer for you. But maybe that thread will give you some ideas.

I had an error like this that made all the shadows of people just large semi-transparent squares that seemed to have a texture of a bump-map of dirt from a Cryengine game.
