Consoles...bleh.

Although, they certainly should have been able to offer high-res textures on PC, as I'm sure their original state was comparable and then downscaled or something...

I think the textures were downsized by half, at the very least. Although they have smaller texture resolutions for all the assets depending on how far away the player is to them to optimize streaming.

I'm pretty sure that I've read an article just before Mass Effect 2 was released when one of the art team guys talked about art assets. There were even screenshots... they surely have a lot higher resolution textures than those on the disks. They can't fit them? Fine. Let us download them.

JeanLuc, after reading that ME2 PS3 will be coming with improved textures compared to the PC, I'm looking even more exited towards your project. Thumbs up!

Hear hear! PC fans deserve to have hi-res textures in-game already...but the next best thing would be for us to download them from an official Bioware source.

Isn't there a way to contact someone from Bioware (or any of the community moderators) and ask them to release the original art assets? Then ambitious people like JeanLuc315 won't have to spend so much time enhancing all of the textures.



I just wish we had ultra-high textures for ME2 like we got in ME1. Couldn't it be included in a patch or even DLC?

The problem is that the file size would be huge.  It's not as simple as replacing textures on a character by character basis, they'd have to give us an entirely new textures.tfc file (which is already 932mb on its own). 

Unless Bioware compartmentalized the textures better, it would essentially require a 1GB + download just for higher res assets on the characters.

A 1 GB download wouldn't be very bad. I've downloaded a lot of patches or documentaries that filled 1GB. Hosting the files might be expensive for EA/Bioware. Plus EA isn't necessarily known for supporting their games post-release.



Otherwise, whenever they release the GOTY edition (ME2 + all DLC) for PC, it would be *really* great if they actually did as good as what Demiurge did in ME1 (ultra-high texture assets).

Hey! I like the way you did the Collector's Armor, and the pattern you added - the armor really looks like chitin now, as if it's... Alive.



Is there any chance you'd do a female version of the armor? I really love it - I do play as a FShep, though...

It's not I'm not caring, Whizz, but working and studying at the same time... you get the idea.



Anyway, thanks for the high-res texture! I'm still fighting desperately trying to get Texmod not to lag so much. Even with AA turned off I get a lesser framerate than at 16xAF/8AA w/out Texmod... ?!

There's also the way the game's compiled-the reason they never released a patch for Garrus in ME1 was because of the way the game was compiled, the patch would be 2 gigabytes! While ME2 is running on the UT2k7 engine (Unreal Engine Mk3 iirc) which is very deliberately extremely mod friendly, it seems to be a closed compile, hence all the texmods.

It's not impossible of course; I downloaded a 1gb mod for Company of Heroes yesterday. Hwever, it's already a bit of a hard-drive hog. :P

Anything new lately? I am finally able to play this properly after upgrading to Nvidia GTX 460. No longer wierd perfomance nose dives as I got with Ati HD4890.

Yeah I love your work so far. Would really like to see a sharper Volus texture, from a distance they look ok, but when you talk to them their suits are so blurry :(
