Ah well, I've got your story to keep me entertained while I wait for my new card to come in.  And then, back to productivity!

Ouch. I've blown one card (though my own stupidity and took the MB with it) not fun. The waiting stinks. Hope you're back up soon. But 100C, impressive! You sure the fan didn't just die on you?

Yeah, checked the fan and the heatsink.  The card simply appears to have reached its limit (I did, after all, spend a couple dozen hours with temperatures above 105-110C).

As someone who only just stumbled across this whole thing now:

Where have you been all my life, you glorious person?

Ahem. Uh. These are excellent!

I'm glad people are still enjoying it.

While waiting for my replacement video card to arrive, I'm taking my newfound free time and using it to fix a lot of errors (or areas I was simply uninterested in painting) I'm finding on my released textures.

Chances are good I'll be updating quite a few characters...(Expect an update for Garrus, Miranda, Jack, Thane, Tali and the Normandy Uniforms).

Thank you so much for these, they make an incredible difference. I don't know how I even tolerated this game at low-res anymore (Jack and Garrus especially).

Are you planning on doing any work on the other n7 armor pieces (aegis vest, asymmetrical shoulders, etc)?

Yeah, mine involved water and electricity. I got convinced to use plastic clamps instead of metal clamps. Mmmmm...the sweet nose burning smell of electronics to tell you HEY! water is now spraying all over the inside of your case. Only lost 1 GPU and MB though, it could have been worse.  I only use metal clamps again on my machine.

Any news on AAP2? :D

Heh my 8800 gts 512 died on me a few weeks ago. I not only had to buy a new gfx card but a new power supply aswell since the new gfx card had to have alot more juice. Power supplies are a **** to replace. The darn thing wouldn't work after the replacements, checked all the connections, tried again, no luck, check the connections again... Finally I found the trouble about 5 hours later, some cables that I didn't have to change got disconnected under my soundcard (the soundcard is at the bottom slot so I didn't bother to check those cables), must've got disconnected by accident when I disconnected all the wires from my old power supply, ugh. But in the end, the new gfx card & power supply are running great so I'm not complaining (now). :)

I don't suppose there's a separate optimized file for Tali knocking around, is there? Running the ultra version or the everyone-in-one pack seems to be causing my computer to cry big sobby Mass-Effect-3-has-stopped-responding tears.

Ooh, I seeee. Nevermind!

Thank you so much for these mods JeanLuc! :)

Out of curiosity, have considered doing some other DLC armors such as the Terminus Armor or the Collector Armor? I find that at least the Terminus armor has some really blurry textures.

Did it really bust or are you just afraid that since you spent so long time with such high temperatures that the card is certain to be dead? Unless you are seeing artifacts constantly, it is possible that your card can be saved. Get new, good thermal paste (like Zalman STG2 or Arctic Cooling MX-2) and some isopropyl alcohol and qtips. Take the cooler off, clean the GPU from old thermal grease with alcohol (do it several times) and apply the new paste (make a drop size of a pea in the center, it will spread out from pressure during assembly) and finally reassemble. And make sure the fans are working (goes faster as card heats up) and sink itself is free from dust. Dust between the fins blocking the airflow is actually quite severe temperature increaser!

*edit* Nevermind since you already bought a new one. I missed that post.

Off the top of your head, do you know if any of the ultra textures are compatible with Insertnamioo's recolors (http://social.biowar...t/2127/#details)? Thanks.

Hey, just found these textures, they're GORGEOUS! looking forward to spending some time with them in-game.
Have you done any ME2 textures other than these and the Tali Colossus texture?

Possible The Wonder Solution to the ATI GPU lag...

FXAA for Mass Effect

Essentially, it's a CPU-handled post-process anti-aliasing, supposedly with minimal framerate impact (according to the thread). Since on ATI card Texmod causes huge framerate drops, using forced-AA most ATI cards couldn't handle it - if this works, Mass Effect 1/2 could finally be both jaggie free and using high-res textures at a reasonable framerate!

Anyone with an ATI card willing to test it? I don't have ME1/2 installed right now. Jean Luc, sorry to hijack the thread - could you also test it, and maybe post it on the first page if it indeed works?

Just imagining smooth framerate with AA and high-res textures... insta-replay once I get home.

ARGH!

I'm not really sure what effect this is supposed to have. I haven't experienced any crippling framerate drops using Texmod myself, but the way I understood it, the drop is noticeable enough that having antialiasing or not isn't really the issue; the game is just not playable.

FXAA is an anti-aliasing method that loads the CPU to perform AA as a post-processing filter. It relieves your GPU from doing it, thereby any drops on the framerate would be entirely dependent on the CPU.

Texmod by itself causes a huge framerate drop on ATI card, but having the AA over to the CPU and the entire power of the GPU concentrated for rendering with Texmod may be the difference between playable and completely un-playable with AA enabled.

I have been busy the last few days with a new play through using all of your Highest Resolution textures JeanLuc.  All of your textures are awesome, but the work you did on Jack is amazing, I never noticed how incredible her tattoos look, or that she has freckles.  Just wanted to give some props :)  I have been using FRAPS to take screenshots every second, and I thought I would share a few of my favorites.

Would be able to edit your ultra-res Miranda and change the skin hue so that, on maxed graphical settings, the skin palour remains true to the actress?

She needs to be more tan, but now I know why Bioware avoids blonde hair in Mass Effect...

I recently found this mod by FarShot: http://social.biowar.../4652/#details. Not sure if you'd want to invest yourself in another retex or not, but I'd be immensely gratified made something similar to FarShot's for all three skins.
Thanks for your time.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I have found these Miranda hair textures. They are not as dark as the other mods and look imho more realistic. So it is possible to have good looking blonde hair in Mass Effect 2 =].

I want to do the same thing, but I cannot get FRAPS to take pics every second. It stops after 3 shots . I have ea digital copy of the game. Do I have to rename FRAPS to the ME2 exe to get it to work right? Without texmod FRAPS works fine, but no hi-res.
