Hello again everyone; I trust you all had a good holiday. I'm on vacation for the next three weeks, which leaves plenty of time for catching up on my backlog of games from this year, as well as working on new textures. My current small project is working on some of the weapon textures, in order to get back into the flow of working on these. After that, I may work on some textures from Mass Effect 1, though I have not decided yet.

Updates soon!

Welcome Back JeanLuc!!

Glad to hear you finally got some time off too :)

I just heard about this mod and I would like to play Mass Effect 1 and 2 with it before 3 comes out. It just seems that all Gamefront-links are dead. Are there any other links to get these?

Edit:  Sorry, never mind. Gamefront just seems to be down right now. I'll try again later.

Yay, awesome! :o
Then I'll delay my next ME1 playthrough until you finish.

Oh, I wouldn't do that.  While I do have some free time to work on the mod now, I'm not putting nearly as much time into it as I did before.  Gotta spend some of this break on myself, too ;)

Minor update. I know a lot of people were complaining about this texture a while back, and it's fixed. I'll release it as part of an upcoming NPC pack.

Don't suppose you could chuck in that blue & black re-skin of Garrus's AA?

Thanks JeanLuc for your work on on this, it looks great and the loading times are surprisingly quick even with ultra textures. I'm hoping to see somthing similar to this integrated in ME3.

I agree, ME3 (hopefully) will dazzle and amaze people as much as the story and narrative will. Maybe someday JeanLuc will work on it and tweak a few areas. For now I'm grateful that he takes the time to do this kind of work on ME2 that not many others have on this scale.

Hi ME serie freaks!

I've got lost to this forum couple of times before, but i have never encountered anything like this. I'm glad someone is still willing to sacrifice time for their passions and dreams. BIG credit for you Jean-Luc Fortier. The quality of work like this leaves no words. No words at all.

For those who have encountered troubles on their hardware, I will share my experience.

I was actually disappointed. Not to your work Jean, but to my own hardware. Even a beast machine, hand built 7months ago, didn't run smoothly the optimized res-upgrades. I don't know if it is the TexMod that makes it so heavy or the steamed resolutions. I'm running on:

AMD Phenom x6 II 1100t clocked to 3,8 ghz
Two Ati HD6850 Toxic versions with crossfire and a capable motherboard to cope with them both 16x
8gb of Vengance 1600mhz DDR3 ram
Win7 + every driver up to date
+ a cooling system that cost a fortune.

I read that some people have had trouble with the same type of GPU's as I do. Tried to tweak it out myself, but nothing. Benchmarked:

Vanilla ME2: Flawless 50-60fps with 1080p + full setup
ME2 with optimized: 25-32fps with 1080p + full setup, 28-34fps dropped resolution + full setup
ME2 with ultra: horrible 10-20fps 1080p + full setup, 12-24fps dropped resolution + full setup

To get to the point; my budget doesnt allow me to upgrade my hardware often. If there is an alternative solution that contains only software upgrading, that i have not read about or tried, thank you all in advance! Scrolled through the thread and there has been lot of talk about ATI graphic cards and even couple of possible solutions. They didn't really make difference. Trust me tried disabling the crossfire and running the AA changer. And few tricks of my own, but :pinched:

SO, one more time Jean keep up the good work! And only from curiosity, what kind of hardware are you working on?

p.s sixth time i find myself in the beginning of ME2 with imported playthrough from ME1, and damn, Miri looked better than ever. I really need to figure out how to increase and stabilize the fps!

I'm currently running ME2 @ 1920x1080 with every ultra pack (plus a few extra like http://social.biowar...t/4535/#details and http://social.biowar...t/2268/#details) at very playable, sustained framerates. Don't have an actual measurement, unfortunately, and I'm not forcing any form of AA. Here's my system:
Intel Core 2 Duo E5400 @ 2.7GHz
4GB 1333 RAM
GEFORCE 9800 GT @ stock
Running exe and textures off a mid-end 1 TB HDD

Hopefully that data can help towards solving framerate issues.

There have been lots of posts about the issues with TexMod and certain video cards. To summarize, nVidia cards seem to handle TexMod just fine, but ATI/AMD cards seem to experience framerate issues, which are especially noticeable in scenes where there are lots of "holograms" such as the Normandy CIC and while meeting with the Illusive man. Since I have an ATI HD5970 and experience these framerate issues myself, I have tried just about everything to fix them and nothing works. It seems that the problem is simply that TexMod and ATI/AMD cards/drivers just don't play very well together.

All you Radeon users, just get an Nvidia card.
Problem solved.

If money weren't an issue - does anyone know just what the problem with ATI is?  The framerate hit is very substantial, and basically has discouraged me from using the mods on a regular basis.

Have you ATI users checked how the game uses your graphics cards. And maybe check CPU loads as well. I managed to solve a weird framerate drop in Skyrim by using MSI Afterburner. It turned out that my framrate dropped because the game would stop using the GPU properly sometimes.... GPU usage would drop to virtually zero. I think Afterburner pretty much works with all cards...?

I gave up on trying to fix it...It really isn't a problem for me except on the Normandy and when visiting the Illusive man, and the FPS drops in those locations don't effect much in terms of game play. Although I will say, if you try to use a lot of improved textures during the suicide mission, it won't work very well. Better to only use a select few textures if any from when you enter the Omega Relay until the suicide mission is over. In some parts of the suicide mission, my frame rates dropped well below 1 frame per second when using all of the textures I use normally.
