I believe the game is loading the new textures in that case. It's going to take some more time to load the game with these textures then just popping the game open on its own.

Give it 15 minutes if you have to.

I believe this is due to the mod not being very well thought out, from a optimized standpoint. I've also notice the occasional memory leak.

It takes a bit for it to do its job, if you are able to run mass effect 2 fine your computer should have no problems minimizing the screen and doing something else. Like going on facebook or another website. Just Alt-Tab and wait, checking back periodically.

As someone said in a previous post, is the Zaeed link going to be updated?

EDIT:  For those needing the Zaeed file (Just found out by looking at the other file links): captainjl.kikaimegami.com/Mass%20Effect%202%20Texmods/Mass%20Effect%202/Optimized/Zaeed_Optimized.tpf

I truly love your textures and it has made me thinking of playing through ME1 and ME2 again before ME3 comes out. Just have to state that the ME1 high texture default Shepard looks great, other than the fact that his hair becomes extremely black compared to the original and looks a bit wrong to me.

Also I was wondering if all the textures you have made are on the first page for download? As I see you are pushing out new revised versions for characters, just wondering if the links on first page is up to date.

For last I just want to thank you for such an amazing job, you spend your free time doing something Bioware should have done themselves.

he said he'll fix Shepard's hair as soon as he can. we just have to wait for a bit. :)

While the improvements are obvious and stunning, and my PC which can handle Battlefield 3 @ high settings well should have no problem with this, I gotta ask this before I dive in: is this mod a "one-time affair" or I need to run the mod every time when I want to play the game?

This mod looks effin amazing! I can't wait to get more into the mod (when I get home). But I really have no idea on how to load mods into games, especially Mass Effect. I didn't seem to find any guide on how to load it into ME1. I suppose an updated version + guides are coming? I got the link to this via MassEffectNews' Twitter account. Great job sir! PC ftw!

Your texmods have been featured on articles on both PCgamer & Kotaku, as I'm sure you already aware of, congrats.

I saw this a long time ago and neglected downloading it since I wasn't playing at the time and forgot about it. Kotaku just reminded me, luckily just in time cause I'm about to start my pre-ME3 playthrough. It looks amazing.

Noob question, I assume this doesn't effect the save files in any way right? I don't think it would just by the nature of how it works but I just wanna double check. I'd hate to get some message on March 6th that my save file won't load. x_x

Finally the press recognizes the work put into this mod. I tweeted Kotaku's article to BioWare hoping the devs will raise their quality standard.

The squadmates, ultra and optimized links and also the pack-link seems to be down. Any other link available for this?

This is great. Easy to set up and install(Steam ME1) and looks really good, Kudos to you. can I ask though...

1. Is Jeanluc the only person working on this?
2. Anything else planed for ME1? I am playing it atm ready for 3 and it really does need these textures.

Thank you

Just a quick question for the community at large, I know the ultra mods will obviously put extra strain on my hardware but whenever I run the mod irregardless of which one (e.g. an individual mod, say Kasumi_Optimized or any other individual/other combination) my frame rates go way way down to 29...in certain areas for instance in front of the galaxy map facing joker, but if I take 5 steps forward to the side they magically go up to 50-60ish even though the same characters are still in front of Shepard, not just the galaxy map, extreme lag on every mission, even the science lab where Morden does his thing my frame rate plummets.

I have quite a powerful rig

i7 2600K @ 4.9GHz
8 GB RAM @ 1600 MHz
AMD 6990 graphics card

Could not find any material relating to my situation so just though I would ask. Latest drivers btw v12.1.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Worked out what the link for the Kasumi Ultra texture was using the same method as Flames Away.

If you read through some of this thread, you will see plenty of info. on TexMod and AMD Graphics Card framerate problems.  Without getting into too much detail, AMD Graphics cards and TexMod do not play nice together.  Places with a high amount of "holograms" such as the Combat Information Center and when talking to the Illusive Man suffer the worst.  This framerate drop is present regardless (irregardless is not a word by the way) of the number of textures used.  nVidia users generally do not report this frame rate issue.  There hasn't been any fix found.  For more information, read back through this tread and you will find a number of posts regarding this issue.

Just installed these as I'm finishing up my 5th ME2 playthrough in advance of March, and it's an amazing transformation. I wish I'd stumbled upon these sooner!

Fantastic work, Jean Luc! :D

I'm not using AMD (I have a GTX 460 SE 1GB) and this thing kills my framerate in certain areas as well. I wouldn't say it can all be blamed on AMD.

Ultra for ME2, Is this only for the characters listed?  Does it also cover every texture on the levels and enemies also?

Just Shep, companions and people on the Normandy, presently.

I have a question that I might have missed. Do these textures include support for the AA packs? I am talking loyalty suits and alternate suits (Thane's visor, Jack's jacket & visor, Garrus's fixed armor, etc)???
