Very nice work man!

I wonder though : are you angry with Zaeed? I mean there's no link to either his optimized texture pack or to the comparison screenshot...

Fixed the screenshot, and his optimized texture is the same as his ultra texture ;)

Kudos for all your hard work, Heavy J.    Much thanks.  ME2 never looked better.  The only pity is all your fine, fine textures up against the cruddy textures of wall and floor and container and rock and bush and water and sky and weapons and geth and mercs and all other NPCs....

Damn console-pandering.  <_<

Hey folks! Sorry for the lack of responses; I've been busy the last couple of days. Also, major thanks to those of you who aided others during my absence!

As a bit of an update, here's a screenshot of a revised Sheploo. As you can see, the hair is no longer shiny, the seams are gone, and the face has more of a subtle sheen to it. I will definitely have a release for this tonight.

Is the updated Shepard released yet?  Keep up the good work and hopefully some stuff is portable to ME3.

Used this to start my new playthrough, and it killed my frame rates on my crossfired 6870's (as low as 6fps when in cutscenes with the IM, or in the CiC). Did some reading, installed fxaa injector, and swapped out those 6870's for a 580 classified ultra.

60 frames constant, even while recording. Problem solved xD

Seriously though, great work. It's increased the replay value for me ten fold. I don't know how I didn't see this sooner.

JeanLuc this is simply outstanding work you're doing here, shame the bioware team have forgotten the benefits of having a well supported modding community... if i didnt know better id think they must not have seen this project yet, but of course they know about it by now.
Honestly, after the success of all these recent online campaigns to get the dark souls devs to consider a pc port, and getting the united states gvmt to drop sopa, id like to think we could get enough supporters to get EA's attention about the lack of decent mod installers for this game.... but EA won't listen to a relatively small community doing not-for-profit work.
Is the problem with Radeon cards confirmed as being universal, or do some ATI users get normal frame rates with texmod? Before i can even consider playing through the trilogy, despite my pre order, im going to have to wait until i can buy a decent gaming rig, this laptop wont do the games justice. But in my price range im told the only sensible choice is the Radeon HD 6870... is there any chance of playing with the optimized pack on that card, or will texmod rape the game?

Anyway, disregarding the shoddy programs we have to use to get these textures in game, this seems to be a real triumph jeanluc, keep up the good work and dont wear yourself out. We'd all rather see a comprehensive improvement of lots of major characters and other skins for both games (dont suppose there's any chance of a Mako or Hammerhead reskin anytime soon?) released slowly over several years, than for you to wear yourself out trying to beat Mass Effect 3's release date. The work you've done so far is more than enough for a pre-mass effect 3 playthrough. Besides, if this mod gets much better before the 3rd game is released we'll end up thinking ME3 is ugly!

maybe we can ask for a high resolution pack after the game is done, ala Dragon Age 2?

From what i read, the people getting slow downs got them on both packs. I would give it a try and see what happens. I had slow downs on my 6870's but I was crossfired. Maybe it's a crossfire issue? I never tried disabling it. I loved my 6870's btw, they did everything I ever expected them to do. Good cards.

I went back a few pages and found no mention of this problem - I don't have a disc of ME2 (I got the download with DA2) but I followed the orders on the first page: I downloaded txtmod and a few character files, opened txtmod, pointed it to me2 exe, loaded the mods and clicked run and I got "**** Happens - D'Oh!" and it wont run ME2, any thoughts on what I should do here?

Follow the same instructions as you would for the Steam version of the game, and it should work.

Ty for the quick response. I did this but it didn't help. The problem isn't in getting txtmod to run, the problem is when you hit run on txtmod it won't pass it to ME2. I have tried both the garrus textures and the entire group character mods so I doubt it's a corrupted mod. I can't think of why it cant run ME2, it runs just fine if I double-click on the same file I'm pointing to

If the game is just sitting at a black screen, wait awhile.  It can take up to 15 minutes if you are loading a lot of textures.  Even for just one, it could take 5 minutes depending on your hardware.  The way TexMod works, the game has to load all of its original assets and then TexMod goes through and replaces the loaded original textures with the modified ones, and that can take some time.

No. I open txtmod, select ME2 in binaries to run (the same one you can double click to start the game), click the mod to load, and hit run. I get a popup that says "**** Happened, D'oh" and it doesn't launch ME2.

It literally says "**** Happened, D'oh"?
I have never seen an error pop-up that says that.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are there high res versions of main characters like Ashley from ME1?

The title seems to suggest there are but I can't find it in the OP.

Regardless, nice work and thank you very much! :)

I haven't done much for Mass Effect 1 yet, so Ashley is still her normal self.

Rest assured that the first thing I'm doing with the Mass Effect 3 demo is fixing her new face to look like the old though <_<

So I'm playing ME 1 & 2 and got the opt pack, and the high-res Shep as well as the the visible face for Tali. Weird thing is they all work except for Tali... Mordin now has the extra detail on his chest plate, Shep has severe stubble (maybe I just never noticed before w/e) but Tali still doesn't have eyebrows, I mean i thought maybe I just wasn't seeing it but those are some pretty drastic differences...i mean why would only some of them work and not this one???

Isn't Ashley (and Kaidan's face) horribly low resolution and on top of that, a grey texture to allow the game to pick the skin tone?

In any event, might kill two birds with one stone...or three birds if you count increasing the resoultion of Kai/Ash's texture in ME2. (and for some reason, Ashs armor in ME2 is horribly low res in comparison to the same armor in ME1)

Awesome stuff!

Would it be possible for you to re-upload the ME1 Liara face mod? The link seems to be going to No-Man's Land...
